heart pains?
    #3135597 - 09/14/04 07:40 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

Hi,

I've been having sharp pains around my heart area that occurs every 3 minutes or so. I've seen so many doctors and had ECG, Blood test and xrays done and everything looked ok. My family doctor said that it could be stress causing the pain but it occurs even when im not stressed out. He said that inflammation wouldve shown up in the xray and that i dont need to see a cardiologist about it yet until i see a psychiatrist to rule out it isnt stress. last night it was hurting so bad i had to go to the emergency room and had the same tests done and everything looked fine once again. The doctor at the ER said to see a cardiologist soon to make sure there is no inflammation and he said that inflammation wouldnt show up in the xray on the contrary to what my other doctor said. He also said that u cant feel your heart .. which doesnt make alot of sense to me it seems to me u can feel ur heart. Ive been weak, dizzy, sweating, cold blue hands, extremly anxious about the whole thing and ive lost alot of weight.
Can you feel ur heart ? I know i dont have heart disease because it didnt show up in the xray or ECG. Im just ttrying to rule everything out here. What do u guys think?

Peace

Maybe you have Pleurisy? I've heard that can be painful too. Or maybe something to do with your stomach. Some stomach problems can be mistaken for a heart attack. I'm no doctor, to be sure, just throwing out some ideas...

Dude I am going thru the same thing. I went down for all kinds of heart tests. Took enough blood to feed dracula for a month. They found nothing but, I still have pain.

I freaked for awhile which made it worse. Much worse.

I finnaly got a doctor to look into my wind pipes with a cam. He found that the insides of my lungs are wasted like a hash pipe. It turns out the pains I am feeling are black sticky Lung Tubes. Fuck and there is nothong to do but stop smoking weed ...... Yeah right

Now I don't know how long or if you even smoke weed. But I have for 21 years. and my chest hurts

I do have pleurisy but the pain where my heart is is different from the pain from the pleurisy; it's gotta be one of the worst pains ive ever felt. I was prescirped aciphex and acid reflux medication and still having these pains.

how bad would u rate your pain fucknuckle on a scale from 1-10?

I have the same problem. It's way worse when I get stressed out. I need to get to the doc. Just thought I'd let you know there are more of us in the same boat. It sucks thinking I'm gonna die of a heart attack before I reach the age of 35 but if it happens, it happens. Anyway, good luck, maybe you are just stressed out!

It's important to get second opinions if you're seriously concerned, as you've already found out. From what I know (I'm not a doctor) if you were experiencing chest pains due to an approaching heart attack, then it should have been detected by the tests you have had done. Apparently risk of heart attack can even be detected early in a simply blood test.

Keep seeing the doctor, and consider making slight changes to your life. You seem like someone who is anxious about dying of a heart attack, so there are ways to ease your mind by putting yourself in a lesser risk category:

Cut back on the pot intake
Eat a better diet - cut back on saturated fats (fast food)
Reduce alcohol intake
Excercise regularily

Such simple steps that we all know but so few of us actually practice.

If i get overly stoned i think i have heart pains but its nothing. Its more just muscle spasms tension/stress. You are worrying about it too much.

Im surprised no one mentioned Angina...

Angina is chest pain or discomfort that occurs when your heart muscle does not get enough blood. Angina may feel like pressure or a squeezing pain in your chest. The pain may also occur in your shoulders, arms, neck, jaw, or back. It may also feel like indigestion.

Thats all i can think of...

Hello FurrySheep...

What I am about to share is not to be taken as a
diagnosis or medical advice :

I work within the medical community and specialize
in pain management regarding injury and patholgy of
the soft tissues of the human body.

The pain you may be experiencing can acutally be
stemming from your cervical muscles and your
Pectoralis minor. If you are a side sleeper,
are primarily a "chest breather", work in a position
where you have to look down a lot, etc., then it
is very possible you are experiencing referred pain
from the Scalene muscles of the neck.

Check out the following self care link for working
those muscles (go to second page for referral pain
patterns).
Self treatment of the scalenes and scm's
Here is a excellent plate from Gray's Anatomy showing the
SCM and the scalenes Lateral Cervical Muscles

The Pectoralis minor shown here @ Gray's Anatomy, impinges the Brachial Plexus (the bundle of nerves that
feed your arm) and can cause terrible chest pain and referred pain down the
affected arm (often mistaken for a heart condition).

A heart condition is nothing to fool around with. It is good you had a series of
tests to rule out cardiac problems. I encourage you to read the self-care guide
thoroughly (pretty easy read with real life examples) and attempt to follow
the instructions. If your cervical muscles are the problem, DO NOT USE HEAT!

Heat provides an analgesic effect, but increases inflammation of the area.
The only heat you should allow is the ambient heat you get in the shower.
Always use ice when inflammation is suspected or present. Simply take a
regular balloon, fill with water without expanding the balloon, be certain to
remove any air bubbles by letting some water out, tie and throw in the freezer.
In 24 hours you will have an ice balloon which will work perfectly for ice
massage of the inflamed area(s).

I hope this info is helpful to you and other Shroomerites experiencing similar
pain. Once again, this information is not to be taken as a diagnosis or ]
medical advice.

Namaste,

Peaceful Nomad

One time i worried so much about something and i became physcially sick for about a month--one day i just went to the doctor and he told me i was fine--the next day i was back to normal, no joke--it could be stress related or could be physical but it sounds like you are worrying to much about it--stop weed for a month it makes you very paranoid, and if you believe something so strongly it physically happens EZ Peace and lOve

Can you feel ur heart ?

I can. I can feel it beating in there, pushing everything else in my chest cavity around.

I've had heart palpitations (where you can FEEL your heart beating too strong or too fast) and what appears to be a mild arrythmia for at least the past 4 years. I also get stabbing paints in my chest, right where my heart is, from time to time. When this first started 4 years ago I became VERY WORRIED as I was born with a heart murmer (bad valve) and had lost my best friend to a heart attack from the same thing (murmer, though his was much worse than mine) at age 7. So of course I got myself to a doc ASAP who set me up with the usual cardiac workup (ECG, ultrasound, ect). All tests came back NEGATIVE for anything bad. They said I was actually in VERY GOOD cardiac health and that the ultrasound had shown that my valve had FINALLY corrected itself (wee! no more heart noise!). The ECG showed that I might have a mild arrythmia but that it was a "benign" one that I shouldn't worry about at all.

Yeah, VERY comforting...especially when you can feel your heart go "beat...beat...beat...hiccup.................beat...beat". That "hiccup" feels DAMN STRANGE! Even if I'm not paying any attention to my heart beating...when it does that little hiccup it pulls my attention away from anything else around me.

The doc said this type of arrythmia is (a) not dangerous at all, (b) actually quite common, though most people can't FEEL it, and (c) only temporary...I will "grow out of it" in a few years. That was 4 years ago and though I still have the arrythmia/palpitations they have gotten a LOT better (I hardly get that "hiccup" at all anymore).

Beyond that...I haven't dropped deat from a heart attack, so I'm quite happy

See a cardiologist and get a full work up. They will let you know if there is anything to worry about and what to do about it. If they say you are fine...well I trust my doc, so I guess it comes down to whether or not you trust yours.

But you aren't the only one with these kind of symptoms!

But you feel it;
You've felt it your entire life.
That there's something wrong with the world.
You don't know what it is, but it's there....
Like a splinter in your mind...
Driving you mad.

I went to the cardiologist and everything checked out ok. He said it may be inflammation of the chest cartlidge. Ever since i went to the cardiologist it hasnt really been hurting me at all which makes me think it's due to stress.
Ive also been having really bad abdominal pains in my lower right abdomen and my stool has been partially white. This scares me.

Thanks everyone

Have you gotten a blood test yet? Don't mean to scare you, but I know white stool can be a symptom of some very serious conditions like Hepatitis.

If your still having trouble, perhaps think about being checked for this:

http://www.potsplace.com/symptoms.htm

all those symtpoms and most tests wont pick it up.

i used to get real worried everytime i had a chest pain.
my grandfather was required to have a quadruple bypass surgery
and my father actually died of heart disease.

i've since learned that most of it is mind over matter and
i guess aches and pains happen now and then.

if it's constantly there.. i don't know what else to tell you but to
get different doctor's opinions.

While I'm not a heart specialist, I do know that your heart is in the center of your chest. Is that where you are feeling the pain? I work in the Natural Foods Industry and sell vits for a living. I see stress causing your symptoms in lots of folks. You can have a stress reaction even when you don't feel you're under stress at that moment, if your generally stressed out. And of course fear of heart attack makes it worse. If you're worried about inflammation which can be a cause of heart problems then look into COX 2 inhibitors (herbs) for reducing inflammation.

Wow, I am having the exact same problems. Yesterday I felt pressure in my head. As if something was squeezing my head. I felt my pulse on the left side of my head. My blood pressure increased, my heart was pounding hard, and it felt like I was having an adrenaline rush. All day today the area around my heart feels tight, if I push on the left side of my chest it feels tender.

I am going to a doctor soon.
