Pleurisy
    #3121757 - 09/11/04 11:36 AM (13 years, 1 month ago)

I was diagnosed with this about 2 motnhs ago and was given naproxen along with steroids and antibiotics (6 day package). I believe to have had it for bout 8 months but it's now starting to get worse it seems. I was prescribed naproxen which is anti-inflammatory and it has not seem to be helping with niether the pain nor hte inflammation. The pain is has now reach the point to were the otc painkillers just arent helping. When i take a deep breathe or cough there is a sharp, burning sensation that seems to come and go in waves. almost like someone is taking a knife and jabbing it up my right lung.
Ive been to 3 or 4 doctors and had cts, xrays, bloodtests etc... no signs of cancer in the xray. everything looked normal. My chest is killing me and im sick of walking around in circles, going back and forth to the doc and everyhting seems to be fine. My chest is hurting like hell and my colon hurts.

How would you rate your physical fitness on a scale from 1 to 10?

Sometimes it takes a while.

When I was little I had to go to the hospital and it took all morning and 3 different doctors to figure out why my leg hurt.

Pleurisy is nasty. In effect your lungs are rubbing against your rib-cage everytime your breath, cough etc.

2 months is a long time though it is dependant on severity and xrays should have eliminated any other possibilites.

I'd say get a new Doctor.  :smirk:

I think i may have pleurisy. I've been to doctors, cardiologist, have gotten rib x-rays, which have all shown nothing.  Major fail. 2 months of on and off pain making me crazy.  Could this be pleurisy and is it possible to treat at home?

Thanks.

No. If you seriously think you have Pleurisy you need medical treatment.

If they found nothing, could it be psychosomatic?

Man i dont know.  I feel feverish right now and my breathing feels very tight/shallow.  I plan to hit up my doctor in one-two hours when they open.  I haven't even slept yet tonight.

When i take deep breaths it definetely sounds wheezy.  Ill see what my doctor says hope to keep in tact till then.

The thing is there is definetely something that is off with my body even if the doctors arent gettng it.

I've been having chest pain, vivid heartbeats occasionally, and the insides of my lungs feel like they are shaking sometimes and its very hard to sleep or be too active because of this.    :peace:
