Good hamstring exercises?
    #18104760 - 04/13/13 07:43 PM (10 years, 10 months ago)

For a long time, the only good hamstring exercises I have known about are deadlifts and hamstring curls.

I am looking for a better hamstring exercise to complement my quad exercises, such as heavy leg press, squats, etc.

These workouts tend to kill my quads and work them very well, whereas hamstring curls are a lot easier and generally less challenging than leg press or squats.

As a result, I feel like my quads are getting a proportionally better workout than my quads, and I would like both sides of my legs to develop more evenly.

Thanks for your help.

Btw I want to avoid deadlifts for multiple reasons.

Yup, stiff leg deadlifts tear my hamstrings up. Best one imo if you do it right.

Stiff leg deadlifts are what completely threw my back out a year and a half ago.

Really? Were you primarily using your hamstrings? I found out I was doing them wrong for a while when i'd only feel it in my lower back.
