id help plz

Hi, i live in michigan and i found these growing in the grass in a park. caps are about 1" at largest, the center of cap is a tan color and outer edge of cap is a brown. stems are about 2"-3" long and no more than a 1/4" wide.
spore print looks to ge brown.
thanks for any help.

make sure the spore print is infact brown. if its for surely brown, you probably have panaeolina foenisecii, but if the print is black, those are panaeolus subbalteatus. they look like pan foes to me.

panaeolina... its important to get the genus right.
arbitrarily calling it a genus of a simmilar spelling leads to confusion especially when that genus also bears simmilar appearance and habitat.

Sorry, i'm stuck in 1996...
Panaeolina is a subgenus of Panaeolus anyhow, so i don't see the harm in throwing it all into one package. buuuut... i guess your right.  :smirk:

foenscii i have an idea that ive found quite a lot of those around here out front of my apartments , they dont grow inside the complex they dont like the sod grass in here , but once i walk out the gate that tall sort of grass there are many mushrooms that grow in it i think some subbs too because the ones i found are identical to that except for the black gills and jet black spore print

I've eaten well over a hundred specimens in one day, same with gumby, and I have never experience either of those symptoms, just mild diahrea :wink:

ive never had a problem with them either but i know guys who got serious cramps and even vomiting. but he ate like a dry 3-4 oz
