Found these last year and thought they were active but left them as they were very pretty on that log. anyway i knwo where more of them grow and am wondering are htey?

#1
It was on southern vancouver island BC CAN. in a semi-low light area on a fairly wet log in a fairly wet area (creek about 15 ft away). The large caps were roughly the size of a toonie. the stems were short, but i think its cause the way they were growing on the log. sorry for the shit pic.

also saw a couple more of special interest.

#2

Well, its really hard to tell what you got there by those pics. Next time get pictures of the underside including stem and gills and any veil that might be present.
I can tell that non of those mushrooms are active :frown:

The good news is that there are many active mushroom on the Island. Try hunting the farmers fields starting in early October for Liberty Caps, as these are by far the easiest active mushroom to find on the island.  :mushroom2:

You can find my Lib Cap gallery here: http://www.fungusfun.com/mushrooms/modul...=view_album.php

Most of those pics were taken in southern Vancouver Island.

Ya ... sure, you can pick at the parts that are left anyways ...just send me a PM.
You should gett yourself a good ID book too, as they really help with both ID and tracking down what your looking for. Heres one I use all the time:  http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0898158397/ref%3Dnosim/shroomery-20/002-6443759-6296026
