New Vicks CoolMist suddenly breaks...

Man this sucks, check gallery for pics of my Martha.

One day I went in there and my cool mist was not running.

When I turn it on, there is a very slight buzzing noise from the impeller area, and it doesn't function at all anymore.

I have let it dry out, and it still doesn't work.

The only thing I can think of is because I drilled the hole in it, and it doesn't have much room for the moisture to escape, and it shorted itself out some how.

I'm not so sure they will take it back since it has been modified, and it is less than 2 months old.

Well...you could go and buy one, switch them, and then take back the old one, in the new ones box as the new one...I'm not sure why it quit but many have modded their vicks in that way without a problem..

What am I to say when they inquire about the hole I drilled in it?

How about "It was the humidity source for a tent I made to keep my tomato clones during the winter months" or something?

They dont open the box and inspect it, you just say you decided not to use it. You'd need the original packaging though which I assume you dont have anymore...which is you do the buy and switch. Works when your PS2 quits too (seems to happen often, especially in smokers household), just switch the case with the serial number on it...I suppose you could switch the impellers too...on the one that goes back to the store.
