totally automated growing
    #4272266 - 06/08/05 02:33 PM (18 years, 10 months ago)

hey everyone. I recently grew some hawiians and some golden teachers using pf tek but my results werent impressive. Anyways im starting to get lazy and dont feel like doing it again with same crappy results.

My question is: Is there a way to have a totally automated growing chamber. One that takes care of humidity and heat so you rarely have to check on it (only to check for contams.) So far, I havent seen anything like that here.

Im willing to throw down some cashola too. If anyone can point me in the direction of a post on this site to help me out or even a site where i can get the materials i need it would be much appreciated.

Thanks, and dont post back if ur not gunna help....

~Reed

You can buy a kit from a site, or you can use your own automated humidifiers/etc. I think you should search around the site some more.

Here is what I use:

My last yield using the Single Tub method was 9 ounces dry on the first flush. If you have any interest in this tek read this post in it's entirety.

In my humble opinion, everything else is simply a waste of time and money. To each his own though.

that's  because they don't make hydra-pods anymore.

I was just showing you an automated system...so you had an idea what one looked like.

---

You can build your own.

There are many guides here on the Shroomery.

You can make a rip off hydra-pod...the PMP.
Here is the post on how to make it... Click here!~
It was sorta based off the hydra-pod...and is pretty much automated.

Or you can go buy one.... go to http://www.mycodome.com/ one of our Vendors here at the Shroomery is selling a hydra-pod like item too.
I really don't like that he is selling someone else's invention though.
But oh f#cking well.

---

Hope this post was a little more helpful...

I'll try and hold your hand a little more in the future.

I'm cheap and lazy. I run an air hose and air stones through three 710 (?) mL Pepsi bottles in sequence, then out to a plastic container with a lid, a plastic drawer, or anything else plastic (cheap, cleanable, water-/airtight) with a casing or five in it. Total cost maybe $30. The bottles have 0.3 % peroxide in boiled water. Contrary to what some people parrot, the peroxide does not break down enough to worry about. Humidity is 100% coming out and fruiting is fine at room temp. I tend to mist lightly when I look, but I've left it for a week and come back to fruits.

I'm trying to do away with even this. Cheaper. Lazier.

And it's a good question.

Cheap and lazy my ass! That's more than I do. I set and forget. The only time I open my tubs is to spawn, case, and fruit. That's it.

With some invest, time & tinkering, you can "almost" fully automate one of these:

Wronguy:

Set and forget, hmmm? Do you have your setup described somewhere?

I have a batch that's just substrate dumped in a tub with transparent plastic sheeting over it, with a large taped-on Tyvek patch. It's colonized without problems and should show pins in about a week (just cased). If it works it's a half hour to set up if you're anal about sterilizing things and maybe five minutes to case. Picking and dunking will still be fussy. Dunking would be in the same container. The substrate is nearly two thirds water, so humidity is fine. I won't know if there's enough air exchange for fruiting though for another week or so. Everything's at room temp for simplicity.

Cheap and lazy can also be called efficient.
