Hi, i found syrian rue makes the best spice in the world. Makes everything 10x in flavour.

Put it in cheese burrtio warps with chicken. Try and find out.  :heart:

yeah that would be stupid to use it as a spice considering its an maoi. it would be a good way to get yourself hurt or even possibly dead.

try using kava as a spice instead... it has a taste similar to mixing nutmeg and cinnamon.

what do MAOI's do to kill, other then the fact it makes you more susceptible to shrooms? i know little of them.. and i duno why it would be dangerous

they kill seratonin in your brain so things like alkaloids are able to compete with the receptors for a place in your concious mind. Mixing fatty foods and maoi's could be life threatening. this is why your supposed to fast before you take it, while your taking it, and for a few days after. not following the fasting could result in death. also people taking SSRI's while taking maoi's also face possible death... study your shit!

Actually they inhibit the enzyme which breaks down mono-amines, including serotonin and tryptamine psychedelics. Many other compounds as well, including tyramine. You should avoid foods containing tyramine (which include cheese) because they can cause sickness or worse.

You should also avoid SSRIs, coke, DXM, amphetamines, MDMA, MDA, other MDx or MDMx, and other drugs as well.

However, there are many reports of people eating cheeseburgers, drinking coke or coffee, and doing other dietary no nos on the comedown of ayahuasca, yet suffering no ill effects. This has been attributed to the fact that the harmala alkaloids are weak reversible MAOI's.

So I would guess, that so long as someone limited themselves to no more than 2-3g per serving, with an interval of at least a week between servings, I think it may be feasible. Keep in mind, NO ONE will use 2-3 grams as seasoning. Thats gross, and would have an effect. Weigh how much salt you use and compare it.

The problem is, syrian rue tastes like utter shit. Do you actually like the taste?

Well, I've only had the brew and the ground up seeds, but nevertheless it's a horrid aftertaste. Maybe 1 or 10 seeds would be unnoticeable, but that doesn't even seem like it'd add much to the food either.

regular use over long periods of time ( such as used as a cooking spice) could possibly lead to an accumulation of the toxins in the foods we eat that the MAOs protect us from...
i would be careful...

LOL @ using an MAOI as a spice in a cheese wrap.

I think maybe although the rue may taste bad maybe it brings out the flavor in things? Like MSG? I've heard A. Muscaria can be used as a spice like that too, it's actually a really good secret spice in japanese and french cooking if I remember right. So you might want to consider buying some A. Muscaria and using it instead since it's not an MAOI. I actually recall reading something on the net about a guy who used it in the morning on his eggs and even at that really small dose (probably about 1g) he felt a bit of mental alteration, also was talking about one day he overseasoned and had a terrible time! Sounds worth a try anyways, tasty AND trippy. :grin:
