They are naturaly occurrring in SE Oklahoma. This is what my Dad told me when we Oyster mushroom hunting.
He pointed at a small clump of honey mushrooms and said he remembers
seeing something that looked like that growing out of cow dung and when
you kicked it they turned blue, i asked him what year this was, he said early fourties.
One of the same field that i find them in is the same field he was kicking them in fourties.
Cubensis have been here quite a while!
I only find cubensis associated with Brahmin cows (Zebu) in Ok.. Brahmin cow were first introduced into the USA at King Ranch in Texas in 1828.
We have been picking cubensis in Ok since 1986.
