Swami Predictions on Iraq - true, of course!
    #4248797 -

These have been in the archives a long time and I still stand by them.

1. Civil war. I don't care if you rename them insurgents or blame "outside agitators" from Iran or Pakistan (France and England interceded in the US Civil War); there is indeed a civil war going on and conditions will only WORSEN. Iraqis are killing other Iraqis over religo-political agendas. The elections have changed nothing for the better other than a few days of "feel-goodedness". *Yawn* Only another 20 or 30 killed today? Not too bad...

2. Saddam will not be tried. As I have clearly stated after he was caught, there is too many past USA fuck-ups and CIA arms and weapons connections for him to ever be allowed to publicly speak on his behalf. IF we were SO certain about his crimes why does it take years and years? We will wait until he dies from natural causes, then say, "Well, we are just about ready to try him." If he is actually tried, it will NOT be public.

Note from Amercian public to Bush: Please waste more of our young men and billions of dollars on an adventure thathas only benefitted you and your cronies. We enjoy being alienated from our allies and the worsening international anti_American sentiment; thus ensureing (like the War on Drugs) a never-ending battle. We are too stupid to see the game you are playing and wish to be bled dry. And while you are at it, we still have a few too many rights left. Please take them away so that we may better be obedient sheep and do whatever God tells you to do.

Fucking Bush Administration. The president is a poor role model for all the citizens. Where is his honor? His honesty? His great sense of care? He has no loyalty towards the citizens but expects loyalty in return. He deserves to be bitch slapped.

At first, I thought Saddam's trial might be the one thing the Bush administration could actually orchestrate properly. But yeah, I'm starting to wonder.

Swami, post in PAL more. You won't get banned for subconscious flaming.

1. A small portion of the populace with external assistance committing criminal acts in the presence of a weakened law enforcement capability does not constitute a civil war.

2. Saddam will be tried when there is a government to try him. That does not currently exist. Would you prefer a kangaroo court or a lynch mob? He will be afforded the same rights in trial as any other Iraqi citizen when and only when those rights become defined. That is all.

just be careful with predictions.

here is some others i have heard from MSM.

We can't fight during the brutal Iraq Summer / Afghan Winter.

The Arab street will rise up against us 2-3 times/year.

You can't bomb during Ramadan.

The Iraqi people will never turn out to vote. You can't have an election when there are "no-go" areas.

The Afghanistan mountains have swallowed the Russians and will swallow us.

The Northern Alliance can't be relied on.

The people of Afghanistan have never voted so they can never form a representative government.

If Pakistan helps us Musharef will be overthrown.

India and Pakistan will be exchanging nukes.

SADDAM ON TRIAL IN MONTHS

Former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein is expected to go on trial for alleged crimes against humanity within two months.

The announcement was made by Iraq's new President Jalal Talabani during a television interview.

He also revealed there was a growing public desire for Saddam to be executed, if found guilty.

When asked when his trial would begin, Talabani replied: "I hope within two months.

"The Iraqi government is now doing its best to prepare the ground for a court which will be able to decide ... about Saddam Hussein's future."

Saddam, who was captured near his home town of Tikrit in late 2003, is being held by US troops at a secret location in Iraq.

A special tribunal, set up in 2003, has been gathering evidence against him.

Saddam has been charged with the deaths of thousands of Iraqi Shi'ite Muslims and Kurds.

He ruled the country from 1968 to 2003.

Mr Talabani also told the American news network CNN it was possible that chemical and biological weapons could still be found in Iraq.

By that definition the gang warfare present in America is enough to say we are in a state of civil war..... i don't think so. You're a smart guy swami, so why make your self look like less of one by basing your argument on a word used to sensationalize the insurgents and then play dumb when called on it. I have a strong feeling your good with semantics so you should know better, the term civil war has grown to carry a much stronger connotation than that Webster quote alludes to.

The Iraqi insurgency is in its last throes. It'll probably dwindle out before Bush leaves office. Iraqis will have democracy, but at what cost? I don't know.

Has anyone here ever heard of a car bomb driving into a Sunni mosque? I always hear how Shias get their asses blown up every single fucking day but I never hear Sunni mosques or funerals getting bombed. Kinda seems like the Shias are waiting for peace and the Sunnis are powerthirsty bitches who know they won't have any more power with Saddam gone.

Shias only fight if their religious leaders permit them to. Sunnis are lay theocratics, so they just interpret the Qur'an the way they want to.

Not even close. Gang warfare is predominently about money and drugs. The Iraqi car bombings and assorted violence (which the Bush Adminstration clearly said would diminish ater the fall of Saddam, has greatly INCREASED) is about the political future of Iraq.

Are you truly unable to distinguish between profiteering and ideology?

The scary thing is that they truly believe that the Quran is the word of God. I've the read the Quran and the Bible and it's pretty fucked up to have so many people that actually follow it word for word and use it as an excuse to kill. Those people are fucking nuts, I am actually starting to believe that we should isolate that area.

The muslim fundamentalists have been screaming for the return to the old ages for a few hundred years now and so far the West has been kicking them in their fucking faces and will continue to do so.

Islamic fundamentalism is coming to a close. There are secular, moderate reforms ongoing in the Muslim world, like the Cedar Springs revolution of this year. Al Qaeda has been reduced to a random ideology instead of a global network of terror. September 11th was more or less one final outburst from fringe radicals. Jihadism is a dead. In the Islamic tradition it has been reduced to a trendy extremism that only teenagers and angry young men could identify with.

The problem isn't religion. The Bible and the Qur'an are easily extreme in different areas. The problem is politics that are entwined with religion. This is gradually eroding in the Muslim world. Dogmatists see this, and they react violently. Moderates call a spade a spade and label jihadists as murderers. The violent end result is the average Muslim joe getting killed by some young firebrand with a beard. Islamic fundamentalism cant even methodically lash out at America anymore. Their influence has been reduced to the ridicule of other Muslims who want to join the rest of the modern world.

Jihadism is dead.
