First Poo Pins, Finally(pics)

Well, after a not so successful first attempt with h/poo, I finally have my first pins on my poo. My first attempt came up with a case of the green. Don't really know why, haven't had any green anywhere else. Just those three casings. I had one package of poo left so I decided to make 3 smaller casing's to see if I could get this worked out. After 6 days in the greenhouse I have pins on all three.



not the greatest pinset, but it's still early. Strain is , of course, P.E. Hey, if poo is supposed to yield bigger fruit, what would you pick,lol.

Curious to see how it produces as I just harvested a casing the same size,3" sub. depth, of cased BRF.

:thumbup: Looking good - child.

If you step up to bigger substrate trays (nested) - you would get bigger yeilds. But, stick with what you are comfortable with, until you want to kick -it- up -a- notch.

Like one of these. This was the first one ready. Have four more like it in the incubating room. I just did these because I had a 5 pound bag left. My new one's are home made poo.

Hey Agar, does it seem right to you that my greenhouse would be running at 95% humidity with just a coolmist running 24/7?

Where did you get that supporting ring to hook the tube up into the Greenhouse?

BTW is that just coolmist 24/7? or ultrasonic?

I noticed that too. I am about to set up my greenhouse and would like something like that. I have both an Ultrasonic and Cool Mist. I remember you had your humidifiers on the bottom rack before Hippie, did you decide to use the extra rack for more casings or what? I'd like to see more pics of your setup if possible :smile:

Actually, it's in the corner waiting for another greenhouse to hook it up to. Right now I'm holding about 94% humidity with just a cool mist running 24/7.

That ring is two pieces of Plexiglas glued to each other through the plastic. Has a hole thru the center that my 3/4 PVC pipe goes thru.

I would salt test your RH meter, to see if it is accurate.

If it is, then I would suggest putting a timer on the coolmist & throttle timing down to get around 85/88% rh.

95% rh is a bit much for bulk tray substrates.

This was after an hour. Read 74% 4 or 5 hours later. I'll back it down, wasn't really worried until I had pins. Was hoping the casings would have pulled some of the moisture out of the air. Guess not. Thanks Agar. And I mean for everything. Especially your knowledge and friendship. :heart: :heart: :heart:

Can someone enlighten me on this salt test for humidity? Do I place some salt in a baggie along with the hygrometer and it's supposed to read a certain RH?

Hippie, where did you get that plexiglass? The only kind I can find at Home Depot is really thick. And yours seems to have some score marks radiating out from the center?? And.....what kind of glue did you use :smile:

HD should have it. The scores are so the plexiglas will stay together. Smooth plastic doesn't glue together too well. Used a dremel and cut off wheel to score. So glad my dad was a mold maker,lol.

If you go this route. Glue one piece first, then cut little slices out of the plastic where the scores are around the disc. This allows the plexiglas to be glued together thru the plastic.

Put about 2 teaspoons of salt in a little container, place a few drops of water on the salt, close everything in a zip lock. After about 4 hours you should read 75% humidity.
