    #4153841 - 05/09/05 05:18 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

Hello, Got this mushroom in my backyard, around last july i planted various spores but nothing popped up until now.  This is a first of hopefully alot to come. I just wanted to check to get an id to make sure i wont eat anything unsafe.

Grown in mulch in the shade.  Found after spores dropped on ground.

heres a pic

Oh, and found in Southwest Ohio

Please read the rules. Also spreading spores around has maybe a .0000000000000001 chance to do anything
Quote:

II. Accurate mushroom descriptions

It is critical that you describe mushrooms fully and accurately in order to get a proper identification.

A good picture of the mushrooms is invaluable.

Along with the pictures (if possible), please include the following:

a. Habitat (where [state/province/country] and what does it grow on)
b. Characteristics of the gills (color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc)
c. Measurements of cap and stem.
d. Characteristics of the stem (color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc)
e. Characteristics of the cap (color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc)
f. Spore print color (very important!)
g. Color that the mushroom bruises
h. Scent of mushroom

Spore print color would help abunch.

I read that before a post but i thought the pictures might do justice.

smells pleasent actually. very mushroomy. noticed no bruising

edit, i didnt spread the spores, just noticed it was out there after the spores dropped.

about the spot it was picked in: last year i put out like 6 jars of myco which consisted of GT, B+, Equador and something else (cant remember) I did this right before i left for school and was lookin for a quick place to get rid of them. Went i buried them out there no mold or anything was in the mason jars. (hope that extra tidbit helps)

That's probably what it is. Check for brown spores to confirm ID.
