Reusing Lids

Can I reuse the lids in the 1/2 pint wide mouths after I poked the 4 holes in them.

I am steralizing with a pressure cooker.

Also if this can be done. how/where should I let the jars cool.

Yes you can re-use. Let them cool anywhere that is less than 100f. Kitchen counter works well.

You need to let them cool inside the pressure cooker. No problem reusing lids. A coat of paint in between batches will keep them from rusting.

Wouldn't tapping the bottom of th elids since they need to be airtight ... get a counter put the lids on the counter and with a hammer smash the fuck out of those two punctured innoc points. Wrap tinfoil securely around the lids. And screw on the rings boom shacka laka shrooms! :crazy2:

Just clean the lids and they are good again.  No need to worry about rust as it won't harm anything.
