Think he means are you going to mix it with verm and make cakes or use it on its own, i.e. add water, pc and innoc. Oats for a solid gloopy mess on their own, just a porridge pretty much. I have seen cakes with it, there are a few posts about it.

used it once for a cake and never again, got bout 5 shrooms out of the cake.

as substrate it will be a huge sticky mess: it will be oatmeal porridge and since the hull isn't intact a higher contam risk.

i tried it also as additive with wood and grains and that does work somewhat.

by buying whole oat groats, if they're hulled it'll be a little harder to get the
ater content correct, a 3 hour soak will generaly work because oat groats are like
sponges, with rolled oats it's better to grind it into a flour and treat it like
a PF cake, try finding a coarse vermiculite and you'll use a little more of it
than normal, again, you'll need to play with the water to get it to a workable point

ok. i was going to chime in and say oatmeal works just like BRF for cakes, i actually like it better... just put it through a blender and you're good.

just watch the water content.

i don't think you're going to get that airy texture to oatmeal (like instant oats type) so you could spawn to it... so i don't know how it would work to treat it like a grain.
