Fat stems, small caps 1

I'm on my second batch of shrooms and my first had the same problem, I'm getting mushrooms that are mostly stems with small caps. I've read several growing procedures and don't see what I'm doing wrong. I'm using a large, pastilc storage container connected directly to an ultrasonic humidifier (the first time I had three 2 liter bottles that I used as chambers to reduce the humidity, but I figured this was the problem (lack of humidity), so I got rid of them). I also have a hose leaving the container for air to flow through, so I figure there can't be a Co2 buildup. If anyone could help me it would be much appreciated.

The two biggest spoilers are humidity and air exchange issues. Ultrasonic humidifers are best for large setups. Depending on the model and how high you have it cranked up, an ultrasonic can overhumidify your chamber in seconds. C02 buildup can also cause the long stem / tiny cap. High humidity is fine for cakes, but casings like less Rh. Also, air exchange -- crucial. I understand your setup, but perhaps the clean air isn't moving across the cropping surface and then out of the chamber. Heavy C02 will sit on the casing unless it's moved off by hand fanning or a steady fresh current. Peace.

According to Stephen Peele of the Florida Mycology Research Center, small caps indicates inadequate lighting (when I asked this years ago). Peace.
