I thought Portabellas need some organisms in the casing layer to grow? Wouldn't that make it a species not apt for begginers?
If it really is easy I'd love t do it, now it's only Oysters for me...

They grow the same way as Psilocybe cubensis, insofar as that they are both saprobic. However, most edibles are grown on grain and then spawned to a bulk medium such as dung, straw or woodchips.

Go for ports and buttons, you will have a hard time germinating spores so try to get a live culture. Make sure you used oyster shell or lime in your grain, argaricus is picky when it comes to this. Grow them just like cubes except you want to use a straight peat casing balanced with lime that is NOT STERILIZED or PASTERIZED. If you do cook your casing you wont get as many fruits

So, portobellos need a constant temp between 60-70 degrees, right?
I'd love to grow some, but worry it might be too warm.

Growing H. ulmarius on straw is much like growing P. cubensis on straw.
