keep cakes from drying out

I was just wondering how to keep cakes from becoming dehydrated while colonizing in brf/verm. Is there a better substrate to use that will keep the cakes more moist when the time comes to birth? This is for P. Cub. btw.

if there is such, i have not heard of it. there's been a lot of experimentation on the subject. this is the reason it is done in a semi-sealed jar, to maintain the ideal environment.

if you are having a problem, go back to read the original PF tek and see if you are following it closely enogh.

maybe you could put them in youre terrarium (high humidty, but dont give it light) i have never really had a problem with this though. i think it happened when i used a manure added substrate when i grew the pan cyans, but that was different. try using a finch seed substrate, it seems to hold more water.
