Birthday cakes

My monkey's uncle is concerned about his cakes that were just placed in a perlite humidified terrarium a few days ago. The cakes were 100% colonized and left for a week in the jars after 100% colonization I at least assume they were 100% colonized due to the fact that the outer portion of the cakes were completely covered. The mycellium isnt very fluffy looking at all, its basically flat like it just came out of the jar. Is this normal for the cakes to look like this or could they possibly be drying out?

most likely this is normal..mycelia takes different characteristics from strain to strain..some fuzzy and some arent..most likely you just have some good healthy mycelia there..does it feel dry to touch?

My monkeys uncle was wearing latex gloves when he moved them from the jars to the terrarium...he said when he picked them up they felt like they could be dry..they were very light. So thinking that they may be dry he placed the cakes right ontop of the perlite...perlite was treated with h202

Take those cakes and dunk them underwater for at least 12 hours... then dab off the excess water real gently with a paper towel and place back in the terrarium. I`ve had real reluctant cakes just spring to life with dunking.Submerse them all the way with a saucer or something cause they`ll float.
