    #4075158 - 04/19/05 11:25 PM (19 years, 1 day ago)

Hey i just recently picked up this Freezer thats in perfect condition, Thought it could make a pretty badass Fruiting Chamber I know im not the first to do this so im looking for some help..

What exactly can i use to keep this fridge in the prime temp range for some poo casing its about 5 ft tall single door.

Id like to achieve this without burning my house down or creating a oven for my fruits.

Any help is appreciated

I know you can use the heating chord/element from and electric blanket to line the freezer with to heat it.... Hmmm, just wait for agar to show up, he'll be stoked you got a freezer, and will surely know many possibilities... GL bro :stoned:

if you need it to be cooled buy one of these  http://www.morebeer.com/product.html?product_id=16666

get digital imo  because you will have a smaller temp flux since you can set it.  Also check ebay for them i got mine for 50 dollars and its real nice.  AGar has some sweet pics of hookin up an ultra sonic to the fridge for moisture.

hope this helps

and congrats on the best thing you've bought since a pressure cooker

You CANNOT get a better incubating & fruiting chamber.

Don't ya just LOVE............FREE.

First choice for heat is a heat bomb (glass jar with fish tank heater in it, as they have a built in thermostat. So, you cannot overheat the box).

A light bulb wrapper in aluminum foil, with a dimmer switch in the line is a good heater for a freezer. Or, a waterproof heating pad, with a dimmer type rheostat in the line. These puppies are WELL INSULATED, so it doesnt take much heat - AT ALL.

For light during the fruiting stage, any very small watt light bulb will do the trick on a timer. That bulb 12/12 on/off will (or should be enough heat (alone).

For fresh air exchange & keeping the RH high use a COOLMIST (LINK) piped in with 3/4 or 1 inch PVC pipe.

Make sure there is a drain in the bottom of the freezer. If not, drill a hole & install one with a big drip pan underneath it. This will allow stale air to vent, also.

NESTED TRAYS - with aluminum foil between the two.

I've heard this as well.  But I've heard multiple others serveral times as well, so I quite honestly don't know which, if any, is correct/true.

Once you get that box working, you will need one of these:

You can find an AMERICAN HARVEST SNACKMASTER (NESCO BRAND) DEHYDRATOR at about any chain Mart store for about $40. You can find them on eBay cheaper & at thrift stores EVEN CHEAPER YET ($5).

Straight up & straight out..... this is the best dryer EVER (for the price). It quite, fast & easy to use (set it & forget it). They get as cracker dry as one could want. So much so, you can pulverize them to DUST, if you want.

^------ this is hilarious because i had this same conversation, and said this exact statement, within two words, not two hours ago.

*bookmarks* two freezers? have fun trying to dry that many of the little buggers...you might want more than one dehydrator, too

Under his instruction, I taped drumsticks to his head and turned him into a sort of mummy, or perhaps a caterpiller in a cocoon. He remains this way for about three hours, making bizarre noises, pretending to be a new species that must learn to walk and talk and eat, etc. And he communicates with other life forms by way of the antennae on his head. Eventually we jam a tube from a waterbong into it's mouth and figure he's learned all he needs to know.
