Nice video...... but you have a few kinks.

The domed substrate / incubation / fruiting container is great. I have used ones quite simular, with good results. However, the dome requires a filter/patch of some sort to allow for a degree of gas & fresh air exchange.

Also, in the substrate colonization stage, the tray needs to be situated in UTTER darkness (as in cardboard box placed over it). As exposure to light (of any sort) is a pinning trigger, which can cause lots of problems.

I own one of those exact heating pads.



They are designed to raise the heat level 10 to 20 F, over the ambiant surrounding air temp. If you set a container directly on it. That serves as an insulating surface (read warning on pad).

Without a themostat control, the pad (alone) will overheat the substrate via almost direct contact with the substrate through the thin tray. Overheating will stall/harm/kill myc growth.

There needs to be open air space (1 inch or more grate) between the two.

For instance, if ambiant room temp is 74F, the pad may heat to 94F, which is to HOT. The substrate (while colonizing) should be incubated at close to 79 / 82F. For fruiting a warm room temp of 74/76F is fine.

You also have to be very careful not to expose that type seedling tray to DIRECT sunlight. As, doing so will cause it to over-heat very RAPIDLY.

Thanks for the advice....as much as I know about mycology...its always good to get a few more heads into the mix. The humidity dome has a few holes in it for air exchange, and it doesn't make a perfect seal when it sits on the black tub.

I've done some tests with the heating pads..and they don't seem to put out that much heat. It seems to be bringing temps up around 8F when its placed in the 70's ambient room temp.

IMHO you need to edit that video asap!! befor it gets sollen the gift certifcate is what i think needs to be taken out you dont need to put a name in that picture in fact i think that whole idea is bad about given that away any ways just knock 5$ off your kit and give out no free cuponds

one more thing i think should be mentioned i belive your suposed to inject inbetween the plastic bag and the spawn substraight not into it something to to with something i heard but never seen how the pros would do it

and yea...I hate to have to 'dumb down' words like mycelium to 'mushroom roots', but I am just trying to make things as simple as possible to understand.
