 Brownish White Kava Kava powder - how do I ingest?

Well, I just got my order in from IAmShaman, and my free gift was some Kava Kava.
The bag probably has a few grams in it, and it looks like this :
Whitish-Brownish powder, with the occasional larger piece that looks like a wood shaving. I would assume this is Kava Kava root, ground up? If I'm wrong here, please correct me.
I've heard most people on the Shroomery normally drink the stuff?
What ways can you ingest it? I read some experiences on Erowid that said people smoke Kava Kava and it's a mild sedative.
Can you smoke it? How much? Does it mix well with anything?

I definitely wouldn't smoke the stuff. I usually cut open tea bags, empty em out and put kava kava in them, tie em back up, and make kava kava tea (with other tea). Great stuff, good for drinking with good friends.

just stir in water adn hammer teh whoel lot. do not smoke. if you cant handle teh chunks get some cheese cloth to filter from teh dollar store or grocery store.

I got some too from Iamshaman with my kratom and things. It says right on the package to mix with soy milk and drink it, and soy milk is cold so that means to drink it cold. Everything I read on erowid about preparations was all something primarily cold and consuming whole. I don't know where you got the idea to make a tea.
Also, tea sucks in comparison to consuming the substance. If you want to be a real man, take the crap and pour in your mouth and case with water. Otherwise the pussy way to take it would be to grind into a fine power via blender or coffee grinder(the blender works good enough) then get some huge empty pills to fill the power in and consume.
I actually was looking into finding huge fillable pills, anyone know where to buy them? Unless you want to press the powder into a pill form but that costs $$$ for a pill press.

proceed like this:
take some clean cloth and load in the powder, make a knot at top
make some lukewarm water and squeeze the 'bag' inside for several minutes,
causing the water to turn brownish and getting a distinctive taste and smell.
after the 5 minutes, discard the kava in the cloth and drink.
that is about the traditional way of ingestion besides the fact that
usually the roots are ground just before the ritual but it should give you the same effects.
