The best way to stand up for what you believe in, is to appear in court and represent yourself (if that's all your finances will permit, entirely understandably) and tell them why you feel that way. Your punishment may actually serve to the higher good, as messed up as it sounds. The facts/statistics which show how many people are wrongfully convicted for petty marijuana offenses continues to rise, only setting the stage for unavoidable change. I do feel for you though, dealing with the law is never fun, unless you are the man to win the court case which legalized all drugs. I'd imagine the after party for that case would be rockin. haha

My biggest problem with the system as it stands is that even though there is so many liberal minded people that believe pot is harmless and should be legal... there is still this attitude (that is highly predominent) that "That's just the way it is, there is nothing we can do about it, it may be wrong but that's how it is and you have to live by the laws in this society" So what better way to perpetuate the drug laws then a couple million docile drug users who have given up the fight? This is the exact defeated attitude that 95% of marijuana smokers in the US have today... can't fight them, can't win.. why bother.

Living on your knees, conformity
or dying on your feet for honesty

I have too much things in my life which I love to risk something dumb like that. You guys know they are illegal, you should be as careful as you fucking can to make sure you won't get caught.

Hell, compromise is the lesser of losing but what else are you gonna do until its legalized.

and to Shaqshow, stop trying to seem so cool for being the most pro-marijuana speaker, how many rallies have you been to, how many politicans have you spoken to, how many petitions have you signed.

Couldn't really say it better myself. I have done a lot, and I make it clear that I smoke marijuana, and continue to prosper as an individual (and as a member of society). I write letters, and I'm actually pursuing a law degree so I can one day actively fight against the horrid state of law we currently reside in.

Like shroomism said, they are the ones with the guns and weaponry. They are the ones who just love seeing people hurt, making them wet in their panties. Cops commit hate crimes every day, but not me, no...i just like sitting in the grass, reading, smokin a bowl.

I appreciate your thoughts and opinions on my situation guys, but i cannot go to court or turn myself in. Sounds like shroomism has had it bad before (i bet a lot of you have too), been fucked by the system, and is not doing so good currently (sorry that had to happen). I won't let myself get to that point. This all sounds a little backwards because you're all probably thinking that i'll just face worse consequences in the end, but it's all about karma. I hold the idea of karma close to me, and do as much good as i can.

Freeker, more than I wish to name. Not so many rallies, as I see that being very un-productive, but I have verbalized myself as much as possible. Freeker you should stop being an nit picking adversary of someone who is on your side. Wake up man, I'm in your boat, and rowing the best I can.

Shroomism, thats very admirable. Thats why I feel many of us (Americans) would take up arms against any invading forces, regardless of our support for the corrupt system in place. We would want to preserve the little freedom we do have.

I have the freedoms which make me happy, I can fuck who I want to fuck, go where I want to go, eat where I want to eat, etc.

You take for granted the freedoms we have here, sure they are corrupted in more than one way, but we have our basic freedom. I am not standing up for the legal system, but stop acting like its worse than it is.

We could be living in a much more sick and deranged twisted world.

Read my post, it explains how I do appreciate what I have, i'm just fighting for what I feel I deserve along with it. Are you just trying to pick a fight, you seem to have a lot of ambition, direct it more effectively and I predict good things. hahaha

I don't know about your world friend, but the one that I live in is very sick and deranged. Remind me what basic freedoms I have? I can walk outside? But I can't write thoughtful letters to the president and secretary of state without being harrassed by the secret service? Oh right.... I am free to work my life away and pay taxes and be a good consumer citizen. I am free to take lots of pharmaceuticals until I die from them. I am not free, however, to truly speak my mind.. I am not free to make change to the government, I am not free to smoke the safest plant on the planet Earth. Hell, I can't even vote. You speak of freedom.. I speak of basic human rights and equality and common sense.

The Bill of Rights has essentially been tossed aside. The daily show had a great little jab last night towards the patriot act. Something along the lines him playing a clip of some politician defending the patriot act because of our state of terror/confusing times. Then he said "And america has never made decisions druing a "terrifying/confusing" time before right" ::Flash picture of Japanese Internment camps:::Wow we have a dark history. Who can name the 3 more horrible crimes that have taken place on American Soil?

I have what I need to live a happy life. I will continue to try to make things better by doing what I can, but for the way things are now... I can deal.

As for smoking herb, I can do that in my home free from narcs, or in my car, or in my backyard.

I think what seperates you and I is you are thinking too much about what we don't have, while I am thinking about what we have.

drtyfrnk, I think he got the idea that avoiding his court date was a bad idea. No need to be a dick about it. Read the posts, we put it in more eloquent terms, if your going to repeat something, you could be at minimum be nice about it.

Most people here have no idea wtf freedom really is. They're conditioned and programmed to believe that THIS is it, this is freedom, when it is nowhere near freedom. Sure, we may have the freedom to eat food, but most americans go to mcdonalds or any other fast food, or even the grocery store and get addicted to physically harmful substances. Freedom of religion? I didn't even know a thing about buddhism/hinduism or the countless other religions until highschool. Christianity is fucking bullshit, and it's been pressed upon me my whole life, by school, family, and media.

We have the right to bear arms if our government becomes maniacal (we're being 'lead' by maniacs!) says the constituation that our country was founded on (sorry for the lame wording, i'll look that up soon here), but no we don't. Not that i would want to, but this country is founded on bullshit. We've broke hundreds of treaties with the natives of this land.

What real freedom do we have? Freedom is limitless, and i am very limited due to the mass media, and brain conditioning. There's either complete freedom, or no freedom at all.

Exactly Freeker...Has anyone read any Ayn Rynd books. How about the famous "Thought Police" from Wells...He's right Shroomism, we can do pretty much what we want in the privacy of our own homes (despite how hard they try to stop it). The framers did a good job, and we are trying hard to deconstruct their great document.
