I hate limewire and kazaa even worse. Is there anything better? This shouldn't be breaking the rules. I don't think anyways

ACID is awesome don't diss it. Man can make many musical creations with it. CakeWalk is supposed to be better, but I'll stick with ACID. GarageBand is probably its equal.
ACID is also by far the easiest to use.

A FOAFs strategy is the following:
Movies (Screener, Telesync), Porn, Commercial Music: Bittorrent
Fav Sites: Music: Filemp3
Porn: Empornium, PureTNA
Movies: Use general Tracker Search Sites, i.e Pirate Bay, mininova,
TV Series: TV Torrentz, TV Torrents @ EFNET, BTEFNET
HipHop, DVD Rips, generally older stuff: Emule
In a nutshell my foaf would probably put it like this: New releases --> Bittorrent
Older Stuff --> Emule
Dont bother with usenet, or irc. Both are overloaded with freeloaders, which has made the IRC useless and the Usenet less and less elite than it used to be.(Nowadays Torrent are there earlier)

Edit: Soulseek to him is not that nice, as you need friends who to share with otherwise you end up with endless cues and loads of waiting.
His strategy is usually: If you cant find it on Torrents, try Emule. If you cant find it there buy it or leave it!

Reverse Connect (based on DC++, but can download the same file from multiple sources at the same time, it's not recommended for under 1mb connections). If you know what hubs to connect to you can find what you are looking for, get it fast and avoid fake files.. Are people really still using kazaa? Enjoy your virus/adware etc.

I wasn't dissing it and no, no it's not the easiest. I still have it but I can't use it because there isn't any "beats" or at least I can't find them. I'm not looking to make serious music I just want to have a little fun

Yeah, my girlfriend still uses kazaa. She has ISDN, and is familiar with it. That way she can still download th newest pop crap, and I dont have to bother with getting her aquainted with something new. ;-P If she needs a full album she asks my foaf....
DC is good if you know good hubs, i dont like the public ones. And: if I start DC I cant surf anymore.

i like soulseek, dc++, and various torrent trackers.
also i use google for harder to find movies and stuff. an example of how to use google if you were looking for say pulp fiction would be to enter-
pulp+fiction filetype:torrent
and it returns
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=pulp%2Bfiction+filetype%3Atorrent&btnG=Google+Search
various torrents, some of which may be dead, but most of the time you'll find a working one.
