So im using a new pc. Whats a good tool for ripping music? Is the torent deal good? Should i use limewire or kaza? I had an oink invite at one time is that a good thing.
So if you know give me a run down. Or if you want to do a direct link and let me download a couple files give me a holler.

Use Exact Audio Copy with Lame encoder to rip CDs. Utorrent to download torrents. Soulseek for file sharing program.

Whatever you do, Don't use Kazaa.
Limewire is OK, but you're better off with eMule or Soulseek.

dont mess with all that crap, check to see if your ISP carries a usenet feed it's 100x faster than any p2p or torrent crap out there and no one bothers trying to trace the download

check their website for starters, if it's not listed there either as usenet or newsgroups then call the tech support, they can help you set up a newsreader like agent that can DL and decode the binaries back into music and programs
use http://forteinc.com to retrieve a news reader to use in usenet

OiNK destroys soulseek, imo, in every category: quality (192 minimum on OiNK vs possibly lower bitrates and transcodes on slsk), selection (OiNK has 60,000+ users and a handy request system), and speed (i never got good speeds on slsk. even firewalled i can d/l 400KB/s on OiNK). the sooner you get on OiNK the soon you will be very happy with the [nearly] endless supply of new hi-fi music.

Oink is really good, but it's nigh on impossible to keep your ratio up. There are just too many seeders compared to leechers. I'm activily looking for torrents, even if I don't like the music, which have a lot of leachers so I can keep my ratio up.

I can do all that without the fuckin mandatory ratio upkeep. You have to know how to finesse soulseek.

the trick to maintaining a decent ratio is spending a week uploading your own original torrents. trust me - you'll be way up there. after doing that, you'll be able to download whatever for months.
