Long Term Preservation?

My shrooms are nearly done drying and I was wondering what would be the best way for long storage preservation without using a freezer? Cant use it its not private :frown: Could I just put them in small paper bags and stuff them in airtight half-pint jars? Also how long could they stay potent for if I did this?

Just stick them in SEALED glass jars. Forget baggies, not needed and wont do any good. Powdered...filled to the top (NO oxygen inside) would be best..or powdered and stuffed into capsules, then kept in an airtight jar (desiccant packet would help) works too. So does sumerging them in honey, or making them into chocolates. Store at room temp..the cooler the better, in a dark place somewhere and they'll keep for at least a year or two...more I'm sure..

Not needed. Ground to power, in glass jars with rubber side down, is hands down the best storage solution.

F.Y.I., 1/4 pint jars hold 20 grams of shroom powder very nicely.

Not needed, but the freezer works fine if you want..or the fridge...but rom temps just as good..I never bothered storing in the fridge...but I got a big assed 2 ton safe.

Powder eliminates the pockets you get when storing whole. Less pockets=less opportunity for degradation long term (moisture and 02 absorption)

haha if i could get 20 grams ever most i got was don't laugh DO NOT LAUGH! 7 grams dry and that was gone fast.  just wanted to know just in case that day.....if..... that day ever comes. :sad: :doh:

as a powder you can put more in the jars, I dont recomend putting the lid upside
down because that allows air to get in, rubber seal down and a diseccant packet
will keep them for years, you could also try the blue honey method, dry them and
push them into a jar of honey

I store them whole ...I put the shrooms in a baggie thats open inside a jar with drierite or any desiccant in the bottom of the jar...
Moisture is what will kill potency..

I take a coffee filter, and fill with desiccant..wrap with tape to seal..and you got a packet to throw in the top.
