moist hands
    #3994831 -

Most of the time my hands are moist, it's really annoying. Especially with rock climbing and also guitar playing. Even when reading my hands stick to the pages sometimes.

can I do anyhting about it?

Moist hands usually means you are nervous and sweating through your palms. You can apply talc/baby powder maybe even gold bond if its really a nuiscance....I think you are supposed to chalk up your hands when you do rock climbing-gymnastics which is the purpose of those powder bins in gymnasiums.

Yeah I got the same problem.

I usually find it stops if I start drinking heavily.

Yeah I have the same problem, but my hands aren't just moist, they are WET. It sucks really bad and has held me back from a lot of important things believe it or not. it's kind of ruining my life, jobs, girlfriends, and all that kind of stuff. I was told by someone in this forum that it is called hyperhidrosis, excesive sweating.
My hands sweat from being paranoid and having anxiety though.
I can give you a link that was giving to me on hyperhidrosis if you'd like.

wow! didnt know it could be that serious. Sweating is supposed to be releasing toxins from your body. Are you sure having surgery to prohibit that release would be healthy?
Do your hands actually drip with sweat?

No they don't drip, but they do get extremely wet. I don't know if it would be healthy, but I could really see my life changing if I do get that surgery. I think i'll just try the alcohal rubbing first.

Friend of mine has the same problem, he's had it all his life. Clammy, moist palms/hands, called Palmar Hyperhidrosis. There are surgical option which involve a small incision, there's also creams you can put on your hands. But then they're VERY dry, or at least i noticed my friend's hands tended to be VERY dry from it, it could be just his reaction or ignorance in using the medicine correctly.

See your doctor about it.

There is something you can do... I just asked my dr., but I'm not planning on it. It's called a sympathectomy. Basically, they cut the nerves to the hands/feet. No, you don't loose feeling.

From the page:
"Sympathectomy involves cauterizing (cutting and sealing) a portion of the sympathetic nerve chain that runs down the backbone, parallel to the spinal cord. This operation permanently interrupts the nerve signal that is causing the body to sweat excessively."

Read this and the related pages:

That doesn't sound so safe though  :frown: What if they snip something that will cause complete nerve damage and lose my feeling for life.

I started using Kanna (Sceletium Tortuosum) to fight my depression/anxiety/mood swings and it's been pretty much a miracle cure so far. My hands don't sweat like crazy anymore, but it's probably because my depression is gone.
