What do you mean? If they check your bags they're going to see your Rx's anyway. They'll just make sure your name is on them (I think, never actually had mine checked). I think that if they look in ur bags and see your Rx's in with your toiletries (where they would often be) and then find this bottle of herbal gelcaps somewhere else, they might find it odd/suspicious because it may seem to them that logically your herbal medicine would go with your regular medicine, not be all by itself. You surely want to make it seem like the herbal stuff is just regular herbal stuff, clearly labeled as such and not being hidden, I think.

Though I'm not sure if I understand exactly what you mean? What do you mean by 'check'? And if it's kept separate, where would you suggest it go? Do you think it's better to keep them on your person, attached to your thigh or elsewhere?

Did anyone ever hear about that guy who tried to smuggle like half a key of cocaine into America from Colombia in his cowboy hat?He broke it all down into fine dust and sprinkled it all over his cowboy hat then saturated the hat with some kind of liquid and nearly made it through customs but the dogs sniffed him out.It seems like I heard about this on 20/20 or something like that.Anyone?

Sure. That happens alot, H soaked in clothes and packed in checked luggage. That guy was a retard for wearing it. Anyway, my buddy is leaving in 2 days, so any more comments related to the topic are appreciated.

Mushrooms ground up in a powder and stuffed in gelcaps (the 00 ones fit almost perfect .5 grams everytime in my stuffer) could easily pass for herbal drugs. I got diet suppliment bottle from a vegan couple I'm friends with that I carry my shroom pills in...I keep them out in my car and was searched once with them. The cop opened the bottle and looked then just closed it up and passed over it without much of a look at all. And I never hide the bottle because something found in a hidden bottle will be more likly to be scrutinized then something hidden right in front of their face.

As a rebuttle to my previous post you asked if I thought growing mass amounts of mushrooms for sale would be less a penelty then carrying a small amount across country. Why compare apples to oranges? When I said grow instead of smuggle that doesnt mean grow large amounts to compensate for smuggling small amounts. Growing small amounts of mushrooms (were talking like 4 cakes to get an ounce) would be easier with less risk and (though I dont have experience getting caught with mushrooms) IMO less risk of a greater punishment. One ounce of bud could be considered intent to sell, why couldnt an ounce of shrooms. Smuggling across state lines is bad enough too...countries I would imagine is worse (though again I dont have experience being cause bringing drugs across a country line). Speaking to a grower who knows many ways to easily get away with growing (like outdoors not on your property or very small amounts with few supplies indoors quickly). How could you possibly get caught by police for one grow..not like they would ever see the mushrooms until the grow is done and it would only be growing for 6 weeks (how long it takes start to finish)...HOW could they possibly catch you like that?

Granted it may be DIFFICULT for them to catch your friend but they could search or could have that one dog there that is trained to smell mushrooms...especially since your going from a place where mushrooms are legal to where they arent. Customs will be different leaving Amsterdam then most countries so unless you've ever done that, you can speak on what customs rituals your friend will go through either.

Like I said, mushroom caps will probably work with even a 98% chance of not getting caught...but growing an ounce you got more like a 99.9% chance of getting away with it...thats why thats what I'D do.

Just some things to think about...

When you leave a country you don't go through their customs. You only go through customs when you ENTER a country, so he won't go through Holland's customs while carrying shrooms. Also, he's leaving from France on the return trip to the US. So he'll just have to deal with US customs while carrying. I imagine it'll be helpful coming from France and not the Netherlands when passing US customs. Plus, since he's a US citizen and is NOT declaring anything, customs should be a cinch.

They may check his bags but chances are they will not. Hopefully there will not be shroom sniffing dogs in the US or in France. But just in case, he's gonna keep the herbal bottle in an odor-barrier bag as an added precaution. At this point I'm very confident he'll be fine.

I went through amsterdam last year.i was going to go to a local gift shop pick up a small scented candle that would fit in my pocket,hollow out the bottom put seeds in there and melt the wax back into place.i didnt do it however thought it was a good idea however.

I also agree that it's a bad idea for your friend to do this, and I think that the sheer number of people who agree with me should maybe give you a SLIGHT hint that it's not the best idea  :wink:. On the otherhand, I do want to know whether he makes it through or not, so keep us updated :laugh:.

I'm going to Europe this summer and traveling around with my brother for a bit. We plan to make a stop at Amsterdam before we go to Italy/Spain and all the nice beaches. We're going to be traveling by Eurail. Is it a smart idea to travel with mushrooms or weed this way? I really have no idea what sort of security to expect. I've never been to Europe or even on a train  :tongue:.

When I was backpacking Europe Fall '02 I had about a 1/4 of dried shrooms that I bought in a smart shop, (yes... they do sell them dried as well there) that I decided to take on the train.  I decided that the best way to sneak 'em would be to put the bag in the little trash compartment right beside your seat for the duration of the trip.  This worked out perfectly.  In Germany, I had a dog jump on me because I smelled like herb but they didn't find anything (cause it was all in the trashbin).  I went through France with them, and then got to Barcelona... tripped on an 1/8th on a beach near the small town of Sitges, and everything was good.

Not thinking, I start to pet the fellow.  My pack must have still smelled of herb or something.  A couple French policemen made me go into another car where they searched me... of course they found the shrooms.  I feigned innocence, I had 4 big bottles of Absinth in my pack which they overlooked... after a bunch of shouting and slamming me against the wall once they took the bag of shrooms and told me I was lucky this time... if I had had more than an 8th I would have gone straight to jail.  I consider myself lucky.

I would still smuggle shrooms on the rails of Europe however.  Just be smart and use the little trash bins! :cool:

Ah very, very cool, thanks. I suppose no cannabis then, eh? I'll just leave that to Amsterdam and call it good. Although some nice bud on the beach would be just wonderful... Heh, well in that case, one more question, how easy it to buy cannabis over there in countries other than the Neatherlands? I mean, is it as prevalent as in the US, let's say in Barcelona?

OKAY THEN! My buddy got back from Paris today with several grams of dried Cyans in hand (He says that they're insanely strong for Cyans even). I got a full first-hand account of exactly what went down and I thought it may be helpful to share.

On the flight TO Amsterdam, his checked bags were all spot-inspected after being checked in. This is a cursory inspection done by hand to as many pieces of luggage as possible. You get a slip in your luggage telling you that it was searched. Again, this is a VERY CURSORY check because they onlly have so much time until the flight loads and departs. Ok, so any obvious drugs will be nabbed in your checked bags. This goes for domestic flights as well, they just check more bags on int'l flights.

So if you plan on carrying drugs OUT of the US, you'll probably wanna keep them on your person or very well hidden(probably disguised) in your checked bags.

When he ARRIVED in Amsterdam he had to pass through Dutch customs. This consisted of walking through a doorway with a few customs officers there greeting you politely in Dutch and English. Nobody is stopped, they do not look at any papers/passports or anything. You walk through the door labeled 'Customs' and you're done.

Now, a note on Eurorail/Trains in Europe. He carried the shrooms on the train ride from Amsterdam to Paris in his luggage. If you're traveling WITHIN the EU (European Union) you will not have to pass customs upon your arrival at the destination country. The security at Central Station in Amsterdam prior to boarding the train is non-existant. Check it out yourself if you don't believe it.

To package the Cyans for transport into the US, he took the ALREADY dried shrooms (the shop he picked them up at didn't even carry fresh ones, just dried; and for a nice price too) and tore them up into as close to a powder as he could manage (by no means a fine powder) and packed the shit into 'OOO' size gelcaps. These then went into the very bottom of a bottle of Valerian root and were covered with actual Valerian caps. The herbal bottle was placed along with his other Rx's into an odor-barrier bag which he made sure had a positive seal and no external odor contamination. This bag was placed (not at all hidden) in one of his checked suitcases.

Departing from Paris (De Gaul Airport) consisted of moderate security. Before any bags were checked/boarding passes obtained, the pieces to be checked were put through security. About 2-3 out of every 5 people in line to check in had their bags searched. This was done by hand, without dogs, out in the open. The inspection was thorough, meaning that everything was looked at, including the bag with the Valerian and Rx's. It wasn't opened though, as the bag was fully see-through. After this and checking the bags, the last part of security was the standard x-ray/metal detector combo. The checked bags were not inspected any further after being checked to begin with. That's it for departure.

Upon arrival in the US, security seemed to be moderate to tight. Of course, today was the day of Bush's inauguration which may have been a factor. Once off the plane, he passed through Immigration where he was asked a question or two and then went to pick up checked bags. The pick-up area was crowded and there was a sizeable police presence. There was ONE officer with a dog, a Beagle no more than a foot tall, walking around the whole area. Once he got his bags, after a short delay, he went towards customs at the other side of the baggage claim room. Note that his bags were not given any attention by the dog. Now, US customs consisted of walking past a single customs agent who collected the custom declaration slips. He didn't look at the passport or anything, just the slip filled out on the plane. My friend declared nothing on the paper and walked right past the customs agent receiving a friendly, "Welcome home". THE END.

i have travelled two times in AMsterdam and i brought home mushrooms and weed. both times the stuff was in my pants...
the same in Paris and Germany... i had shrooms in my balls...no worries

I am wondering about a friend who wants to bring Truffles on a trip to the U.S. I think I could just tell my friend to toss them in some M?sli cereal or some loose tea in a baggie and bring in carry on? *trail mix* or *walnut tea* as they look so much like walnuts.

I haven't decided what the best advice for my friend is yet. Anyone think the above are good ideas?

truffles with psilocybin in them? I think that's what efrog means...

Anyways, taking shrooms on the train from Amsterdam to Brussels
where he will probably board the Eurostar to Paris is kind of iffy.
I've been arrested for having a gram of pot on that train. (They took
it away, searched my bags, and let me go)

If your friend can find another way to Brussels, that would probably be best.
