 Peyote..Streching...Not Good -_- Need Advice Plz.

Ive had 5 little peyote for about a year and a half now. They are penny or nickle size around. The problem is they are stretching. When i got them i thought that there would be enough light for them inside near a window... but it seems i thought wrong 
Unfortunately i do not have the money or space for a metal halide light.
I dont want them to die, but i cant very well sell them or give them to anyone here for obvious reasons.... and i sure as hell dont want to throw them away...
I could plant them out in the desert... but i dont think peyote lives around here naturally, so they would probably die. (Phoenix area desert) Maybe i could donate them to the Native American Church somehow?
What should i do with my peyote? Any ideas?

Keep em in pots and put on ur porch. Slightly in the shade. I suppose.

THey probably stretched because they had too much water and too less light. Your peyotes won't die or something, they'll overgrow the stretch very slowly. Just make sure that you don't give em any water or just a little bit next winter. Now they should get as many light as possible, but be carefull that you don't sunburn them.

I cant put them on the porch, because the "people" around here would steal them, destroy them, etc. I havent watered them since late summer. Unfortunately there is no where i can put them to get more light, and they are already stretched badly.

See if you can go and buy an inexpensive but bright full spectrum bulb that you can put in one of your own lamps. These are not expensive, but not gret either. Place you plants ner the window always and really close to the bulb. I think this would help at least somewhat. I don't think metal halides are required.

HD / Lowes have some cheap flouro spotlights that would definately meet the needs of a few cacti indoors and would work in a pretty small area.

I would probably attempt to place a stand right up next to the brightest window in your home and put the peyote there. You can get one of those small indoor grow lights (even clip lights) for a under $22. You'll have to try a few things perhaps and closer the monitor the cacti. Good luck.

I have a florecent grow tube, its a cheap one i got from wal mart... Ive had it on the peyote every day since i first got them...
Would this "flouro spotlight" be any better?
Also once they are streched, will they get fat again with proper lighting?

im guessing you cant put it on your roof? or do you live in an apt building? well, your f'd if you live in an apt. id say give it to someone who lives in a house, maybe your parents? im sure they wouldnt know what it was.

peyote can grow in a desert.
in fact, its only natural habitat in the world is the chihuahuan desert region.

It's supposed to prefer more temperate deserts though, whatever that means. It also often grows under the shade of larger desert plants.
