Ok I would like some ideas on a casing method that doesnt require that you put jars in a pressure cooker. No i dont have one and prefer not to buy one, unless i can get it super cheap (Any one have a hand-me-down cooker to give me.

I would like to use chicken feed cuz i have a bunch. Could i just pasturize seed and put jars of this in oven, or maybe grinding the seeds would be better.
Any ideas would be aprieacted.

Not to piss you off or anything like that....but what your talking about is substrate not casing. There has to be something in the grow/find section. However, if you can scrape $50.00 you should have no problem finding a p.cooker for that price. Highly recommended! I know you wouldn't want to lose your shrooms to cont. and that is very possible without the use of a p.cooker. As far as using chicken feed....well i can't help ya there. Never used it.
Good Luck!

Time is money right? The amount of time you will save (months) for the price of a pressure cooker is more than worth it for this hobby. Don't f*** yourself right from the start. Every day you wait for your contams is a day you should be waiting for fruit. You will save yourself a massive amount of heartache and time - spend the $50...now.

PS: Birdseed is a great substrate. It's only one ingredient. But..It needs to be pressure cooked.
After you get yer PC go to the grow/find section and read, you'll have no problem.
