Help! The presure cooker malfunctioned!
    #3813978 -

I tested the presure cooker the other day for time, water quantity and time and today when I presure cooked the PF tek cakes the P cooker didn't lock into the presure mode. It went on venting for a while and then longer and it was only after I checked it to see what was wrong that it locked into place. It had stalled in place. And then it only had a chance to cook in a fully presurised inviroment for about 30 min. I started to smell a little burning before I removed it from the heat.I wanted to know if 1). the jars are burned or was that just the lack of water? 2). are they sterile enough to use for mushroom production?

No..I know what happened but I just want to know if they will be sterile enough to use for inoculation. They were just the basic water,BRF and verm with a dry verm layer ob top. You think even with this amount of time the half pint jars will be clean enough?

so tehre was no pressure? knock a few up but dont go crazy. 1/2 hour for pf cakes at 0 psi is short but it should be okay.

no it did eventually presureise after a while (after I checked it and gigled the handled) then it locked in. It want to presurise but the handle kept it from doing so. But it did cook them in a presurised enviroment for about 25-30 min. Is that enough?

45 mins is fine if just steaming, 30 mins PC'ing and you're set man...
