I think I might have posted these pictures before, but I can't find the thread in my archives.
Here goes again:
Has anyone ever seen a mushroom like this before? I can't really find a similar one in my guide.

Cap about 10cm. Had a wet slimy appearance, black toward umbo and lightening in streaks toward edge of cap.

Stalk 15cm in length, 1cm diameter. Smooth, No annulus visible. Has a volva. Bulbous near bottom.

Gills unattached. Pinkish beige, close.
Very cool mushroom growing on manure where pan subbs should be.

Wallace

I have to disagree Mitchnast. The presence of a volva along with free gills and pinkish brown spore print all indicate Volvariella.

Volvariella volvacea seems to match. Of course I would like to see the volva before confirming ID.

The spore print rules out the possibility of psathyrella.

We have a match. This looks to me like volvariella volvacea. Very cool/weird mushroom.

I was goning to reply to your statement but it was so humourous that others might have been offended. It wasn't a bad comment I wanted to make. And it is actually very funny, but It might bnot be appropriate here.

I'll pm you the response,

have a shroomy day,

mj
