Items / Substances that glow under Black Light

So I'm hosting a Black Light/Pajama Party this weekend and I'm looking for ideas to help decorate. I want items that will glow under black light...or substances. (I heard Bleach glows a little)

Any ideas?

Highlighter ink in water.

So do just break open a highliter and and dump it in water?...How much water in proportion to a highlighter?

Do I need to put the detergent in water too?

C'mon dude...I need specifics here!  :tongue:

Uh, I don't really know...

I've seen the highlighter/water thing in many dorm rooms. I think they just let a highlighter ink cartridge sit in 750 ml of water over night, and then usually poured the h2o into a liquor bottle.

I don't know anything about using detergent really. You probably dilute it.

Why don't you experiment a bit? What do you have to lose? 10 minutes and some soap?

On the highlighter thing there are two ways two do it that I know of it.
1) Take like a bottle of water and put highlighter ink felt thingy on the inside. Then sake it up and that glows under the black light.
2) The other is to put a hihglighter in water for a bit but that doesnt work as well as Number one.
I like take various liquor bottels and putitnjg like 3 or 4 ink thingies in the bottle.
The felt posters at spencers adn stuff glow somewhat.

take a crap load of glow sticks, pop them open and just let loose on the walls. i dont think it leaves a permanent mark but it looks AMAZING

woolite also glows.

a friend of mine was tripping one night and dumped a full bottle of woolite in a bowl, then started jumping on his couch, flinging woolite all over his room.

the whole room lit up whenever he turned on his blacklight.

now, here is something for you to think about before you go splashing glowing substances all over your walls:

after a few months, dust was caked on the woolite and he had to wash all of his walls, his entertainment center, nintendo, weight set, basically everything in his room. he couldn't wash the ceiling or the plaster would have to be re-applied. 10 years later, the ceiling is still dirty.

I second that. My friend "accidentally" cracked one open with his teeth while we were tripping and he went crazy and started shaking it and it splattered EVERYWHERE all over my room. It looks crazy when you have a blacklight on and then turn the lights on...IT ALL VANISHES! craziness...

go to a fabric store and buy several yards of black fabric with a cool flourescent design on it.

staple it to the walls. get enough to go around the room a couple times.. won't cost that much...


the results always look awesome.

You can also just use a higligher to draw with that's crazy fun, especially if you're drawing on people.

One of my absolute favorite blackligt tricks:
need several colors of highliter including orange and pink
need 3d glass too,
draw on the wall (it comes off pretty easily with clorox bleach cleaner or simple green)
i suggest drawing a scene like an undersea scene or mountain scene or something
put the 3d glasses on when the drawings finished and anything that is drawn in the orange and pink highliters will stand out (ya know like 3d)... it's way cool.

other things that glow:
those glow in the dark star sticker (made to put on the ceiling)
clear toothbrushes (doesn't sound that fun but it really was the night we discovered it)
dead glowsticks
downy liquid fabric softener
elmers white glue (that's really fun with some big pieces of paper and paintbrushes... amazing)
and baiscally anything labeled "glow in the dark"

I love blacklightes when i'm shrooming so i've had much experience hope this is helpful for you. have fun!!!!

Awesome ideas...

I should mention that this will be at a community hall, so that kind of puts the kybosh on me 'painting' anything on the walls...

I did hire a body paint artist, and we'll also be handing out glowsticks at the door...I was just looking for other items that we could use to max out the blacklight experience.

You should commission somebody to make you an ice sculpture w/ glowing substance added to the water used to make the ice.

It'd be cool to see a glowing sculpture melt.

Detergent works great, like everyone else has said. You could just buy some cheap fabric and paint on it with diluted detergent.
