Police Response to Call
    #3958043 -

So I was watching some show, I think the Today show? Anyways, they had this report on some guy's death. Nothing out of the ordinary, except for how the police officer responded.

Some 21 year old was riding a motorcycle, and crashed. There were a few friends at the scene, and they called 911. They told the dispatcher (an officer) what had happened, and he responded with "Yeah...too bad" and then hung up. So another friend calls back a second time, and gets "You shouldn't have been playing games" "But I'll send help over there". Finally on the third try, a different dispatcher answers, and they get an appropriate response.

Help did come, but the guy died. All the officer got was a 15 day suspension. Sure they are only human, and sure they can have bad days, but behavior such as this is absolutely appalling and unexcusable. Every time they pick up that phone they might have someone's LIFE in their hands. It can't matter whether they're having a good day or not, it's someone's life!

I am thoroughly outraged and, well yeah.

It takes a special breed to have that kind of disregard for human life.

Pertaining to which person?

Was this accident because someone was trying to impress their friends by going 140 mph while popping wheelies or something like that?

The police officer. No matter the ignorance or whatever of the injured person the it is still officers responsibility as a cop and human being to help.

I'll bet this was the Florida panhandle. I've heard stories like this before from there. What do you expect from a state with no income taxes?

Would the likelihood of the guy's survival been higher if the dispatcher had sent help the first time, or was he a goner for sure?

doesn't matter.

that's not even the point.

you call because some niggrah's in your house about
to rob you...do you want the dispatcher to say 'too
bad, so sad' and hang up?

Listen, I understand that. I'm not saying he should not be held accountable. It was a simple question that popped into my head when the person who posted above me mentioned a lawsuit.

15 day suspension... The guy outta be punched in the face a couple of times.

Or at the very least, fired.

He probably got a lot of prank calls that day or something.

Inexcusable, no matter what the situation is. To think they throw people in jail for drugs, but they let this scum bag cop off with a slap on the wrist. No matter what the situation was, freakin ridiculous.

Got a question about a substance?  Erowid might already have your answer! Have questions about the  mushroom experience? The  Tripper's FAQ may have your answer or someone else might have had your question before.

The cops aren't the ones who answer the 9-11 calls.. 9-11 calls the cops' dispatch
