Charles Manson mentions Timothy Leary (mp3)

This is a snippet from an interview with Charles Manson by KALX Berkley Radio on February 27, 1986(or 7) from Vacaville Prison. In this little clip, Manson criticizes Timothy Leary, Ram Dass, Abbie Hofmann(he pronounces it "A-B Hofmann") and Jerry Rubin. It sounds like he's blaming the murders partly on these guys. That wouldn't be unusual for Manson though. He blames everything he does on someone else.

I find Manson to be an interesting charactor, and I've heard a lot of Manson's interviews and music. This is the first time I've ever heard him mention Timothy Leary. I just thought it was an interesting clip. Discuss...............

Charles Manson is a con man, a product of correctional facilities. He always laid the blame elsewhere and that is a technique he uses, his whole rap is bullshit to this day. He's not crazy now or then, he's just an evil little shit. He lacks a conscience.

He took advantage of kids on psychedelics and and spread acid around to the Family often. He would stage miracles after he dosed everyone, once on the infamous "black bus" he made a dead bird come back to life in front of everyone (they were all trippin balls). It was of course a trick, Charlie loved fuckin with people's heads. You gotta understand that Manson spent over fifteen years in various institutions before hitting the Haight, he had plenty of time to read and he was a voracious reader, his favorite subjects were psychology and philosophy. He spent most of his adult life figuring out how to use people to his advantage. His life is defined by power tripping.

Yes, they tripped on all sorts of drugs out there in that desert. 

AG, you're totally right.  He's not a nice guy at all.  He's an interesting guy because some of his spiritual beliefs are right on.  On the other hand, he's a homicidal maniac.

Charlie's a sweetheart, he never really killed anyone. He's a great musician though. I love subliminally inserting his face in corporate videos that i make. :grin:

first, to get the message out to the masses... and the beatles and the beach boys were already sending charlie messages in their music... dennis wilson sometimes hung out at the ranch... & he knew a lot of folks in the biz.. terry melcher (doris day's son) has produced several albums by beach boys & byrds & other LA bands... hey, dennis, take this demo tape to terry & see if he can get us some airplay & maybe produce a fukn whole album of charlie-songs... & terry listened & said "no way, jose!" & charlie got mad & sent his mind-laundered puppets into LA to a specific address & told them to kill everyone who was at the house (& "make it look like niggers done it"; & just maybe start the final race war that would bring america to it's knees!)... but charlie didn't know that mr melcher had sold the house, & now the tenents were roman polanski & his wife sharon tate... & thats's how the tate/labianca murders came to bunglingly be headline fodder for the end of the decade...

(& r a heinlein had manson investigated per allegations that his whole "family" scenario had its roots in the novel "stranger in a strange land_ ... his iunvestigations revealed that manson was barely literate, & apparently did not use SIASL as a blueprint for his own apotheosis...)

None of what Manson says makes any sense at all, but it sort of sounds like it does if you're not paying attention. I love when the guy tries to reflect back Manson's basic idea, and Manson goes "no" and starts explaining something else as if any of it makes any sense.

That's not true man.  Years after the murders, Melcher mentioned that Manson had contacted him at his new residence.  Also, I've heard that Manson had actually been to the Tate house after Tate began living there and had seen Sharon face to face.  The family just killed the people there because they were familiar with the layout there.  I don't blame you for getting some of the story wrong, though.  It's told differently each book you read and each person you hear talk about it.  :wink:

That's not true.  I'm an expert Manson translator.  You have to hear a LOT of intereviews by him to be able to know what he's talking about.  It's like a language in and of itself.  Just ask me and I'll be able to tell you what he's saying.

BTW, if anyone is curious enough about Manson's music, you can go to  this page to hear Manson's original songs and then the artists who covered them.  It's in Real Audio, though.  :smirk:

If you got any links to more crazy Manson ranting I'd love to check it out.  I'm especially fond of his parole board hearings.  That's where normally prisoners attempt to convince the suits they're sane and fit to be released.  Manson seems to use it as an exercise to say the most demented stuff he's ever said, and that's saying a lot for Charles Manson.
