Isn't SxSW in Austin? I've never been, but last year Ben Harper and Robert Randolph were on stage at the same time! Holy crap, I love festivals! :smile: So look into that, it's called the South By Southwest Music Conference or something like that.
Oh and Bonnaroo is a damn good time, maybe not for everyone, but for me! Roo!
And maybe Smilefest, last year Burning Spear played...

yeah... ween rocks. I love their philosophy. Their website used to feature the tour log, where it said what they had consumed- and wether or not they puked it up that night or the next morning.

whatever one you pic take sun screen and plenty of water, i've seen more sick people at summer fests.

Seriously, give coachella a thought. Its the end of next month, but its a freakin blast. it is massive though.. like 50,000+ a day. But great bands.. atleast most of them.

Coldplay and NIN (for some reason) headlining saturday and sunday, respectively.

Ill tell ya though.. its hot as a motherfucker.

ahhh i love ween. i got to see them 3 times last fall. easily in my top 3 fav bands, i'd say they're #1 but i hate choosing favorites.

i haven't been to too many festivals, myself - bonnaroo 2003, which was great, but from what i hear, the atmosphere is degrading a lot. roskilde 2004 which was great but muddy - but this year looks to be a good festival as well (www.roskilde-festival.dk). coventry w/ phish last summer, which was amazing. and of course a lot of smaller, more local jazz and bluegrass festivals.

really, the huge festivals are lots of fun - but the atmosphere around, for example, a small jazz festival is unbeatable.

I think Bonnaroo might actually be a good first festival. It's pretty much as big and commercial as you're ever going to get, and probably the most expensive. BUT...the lineup is phenomenal...and you're going to have such a wide variety of people, AND music scenes. yeah, it's kinda outta the way from Austin, but it's huge and a ton of people are going, and I've heard car pooling is very popular this year ;o)
