I had a couple of rye jars colonized with PR's. I cased them separately in aluminum loaf pans. 2" substrate plus 1/2" coir. Covered with foil and incubated at 30C. I checked them after 48 hours and could see some nice white stuff in just a couple of places barely barely peeking out of the casing. So I put a little bit of fresh coir over the white parts and put them back at 30C in the dark. The next morning I peeked again and saw some more white poking out, again just a couple spots and just barely visible. I saw in a post this week by Anno that you should start fruiting conditions as soon as you can see mycelia at all. So I uncovered them, dropped them into my terrarium (24C) and turned on the light and the air pump. The question is did I jump the gun? Did I remember Anno's advice incorrectly? heathadelic

I pretty much did the exact same thing as you... After putting my casing in my terrarium (72H), it sat there for over a week with no sign of pinning what so ever. Since then I?ve re-incubated (84H) the casing to promote faster mycelium growth. After the end of this coming weekend, I plan on cold shocking them in my refrigerator for a bit, and then sticking it back in the terrarium. I?ve heard extreme cold shocking can help casing that don?t seem to be pinning after when it should have been. A friend of mine stuck his casing in a refrigerator for 12 hours, and the next day shrooms were already growing. Good luck!

You done right. Some grower's wait a little longer, but your right on schedule. Now, just mist them once a day and give them plenty of fresh air.

Thanks. I'm a little confused about misting. Some folks say they use dilute H2O2/H2O for misting. Is that just for if there are contams like cobweb, or should I mist with it regularly?
