Waking Life
    #3912868 - 03/13/05 08:43 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

First I would like to introduce myself, I have been lurking these forums for almost a year now and really enjoy listening to what you all have to say.

I come here because everybody here seems to have an open mind and have intelligent opinions.

Anyways, I just watched Waking Life and I feel like I have been introduced to a type of person, the dreamer. Now ever since I can remember I always have considered myself the observer. Whether being at a party, tripping, or just everyday life. I have only heard and met a very few amount of fellow observers, analyzers so to speak. Over there on the Entheogenic forum there is a post relating to this Here

So after watching this movie I start to think of classes to put people in based on the way they think or the way they experience things. I have no idea what some other people are. So I ask you, other than dreamers and observers, what else is there? Drones?

Right now I'm still in a jumble of thoughts, and usually find it hard to express what I think into words so I hope you all understand.

Well a dreamer is someone who observes inwardly, and an observer "observes" outwardly. Is this correct? In both cases they are experiencing the world. The opposite is someone who dissects consciousness (instead of reality).

They are called know it alls, so wrapped up in BS and so wraped up in them selfs they truely know very little.
Then there are the ones who are the yes men, saying yes to every one elses dreams and never their own, they are honorable good people but lack the motivation to persue there own dreams.

Then there are lost souls lost in the sauce of life, starts out with a lust for exploration wich then creates this cage a mantal cage where you are never happy with what is at hand, you lust to consume. Like a black whole, this massive emptyness that you try and try to fill but just cant satisfy.

I agree, only a couple of my homeslices enjoy it, most need quick satisfaction and entertainment, this movie brings about thoughs and ideas that need time to sink in and numerous viewings. The casual watching of it without wanting to get deep makes it pointless. Well unless the pretty colors are enough to make you happy.

I don't know, with all the different kinds of people today it's hard for me to say we are all connected in some way. Sometimes I think that maybe there are different species of people. I swear sometimes when I try talking to people and they have no clue what I'm saying. Like I'm talking to a dog, they nod thier head in a fake understanding. There there's those people who I can talk to and they truly understand and It turns into a huge conversation.. I just dont know sometimes! haha

I agree.
That wouldn't be a big surprise to me, aspecially considering that we've been evolving for quite some time... im not too well educated on anthropology, but i find it kinda odd that there is basically one race of humans (take away skin colour).
When u look at even apes, there are so many variations!

I think that there are basically four kinds of people. The classifications are based on what people think is the most important aspects of life, and the depth with which they understand each. In this model there are:

Dreamers (Green Peacers)
Lucid Dreamers (Artists)
Wakers (Drones)
Lucid Wakers (Alex Gray?)

I've always been a lucid dreamer, but the movie "Waking Life" has me thinking more and more about lucid wakers. When I dream, there is always something that tips me off that I am dreaming, allowing lucidity. Ever since watching "Waking Life", I have similar moments in my "waking life.' In this model, lucid wakers are those that realize that we are a dream within a dream, and that we are all searching for the same thing, lucidity. I think that above all else it is the search that binds us together.

i came across some article few minutes ago talking about different types of 'psychic' kids, and the kind i can mostly relate to is the crystal type. i feel kinda lame talking about this stuff, though. Some of the stories i saw sounded pretty far out and sci-fi... like, this kid always attracts other kids around him and they would all start communicating telepathicaly?? whats up with that!

We are all Observers...

But some of us are seekers.  And we can seek through Dreams, Love, or just Wandering.

What we all have at the core is not seperate, but that is the nature of the game, to think we are seperate, and to seek the unity that already exists.

The two main Egos you will meet are Sleeping and Awake.  The sleeping ego fears change, and seeks consitancy... They however are still seeking.

The Awakened Ego accepts change and most of the time will still fear change as much as a sleeping Ego though they do not activly seek to conform, and probably dont activly seek to rebel either.  they Identify with there uniquness, which deep down is the same uniquness as everyone else... The same but different.  They seek to refine themselves, and often feel helpless of the change in the world around them.

There is also a third person who is Dynamic in nature, seeking to bring about certain types of change they find pallatble.  Really this is just an Awakened Ego, but they live there life on a more lucid plane of thought and existance.  Change is what they are, and they can never be afraid of that.

I'm sure you could type and subtype to a thousand classifications, and as many variations as there are people, but its not really neccasarry is it?

When you meet someone who is Awake, you know it.  And they either open a whole new set of eyes you didnt know were closed, and you are thankful, or you close your eyes to what they are adn go back to sleep.

words to live by...

WAKE UP!

interesting stuff

im just curious, maybe this is a stupid question, but do you think there are any remarkable differences in the way that you live your day to day life, compared to someone who's a 'sleeper'?
