After lfe parabole

My dad told me a parable about life after death and though you
guys might like it(It was awhile ago so I dont know the exact
wording):

There are two twins,a boy and a girl, growing in a mothers whom
they grow and play together.
after about 81/2 months the boy says 'Im scared' and the
sister asks why.
soon we'll be born and what will happen then? Is there anything
after birth? Can there be life after birth?' he explains. Now both
the twins are very afraid of birth and when the time comes they begin
to cry in fear, but then they seen that they will go on living and they
rejoice.

"Can there be life after birth?"-That was the sweetest part. I likd the idea but I think that it's too simple. Could you tell me what a parable is though?
