My win98 installation discs are NFG anymore. Id like an ISO burn of Asterisk@home, and an undetermined linux distro disc.

I don't know what NFG means, but I have 98 second edition here I could backup. Whats Asterisk@home? If its in a newsbin I can get it, but I dont know what it is. I would definitely burn these and mail them out.

oh, I just figured out what NFG is.

just figured out what asterisk@home is.

its gonna take 18 minutes to download 500mb... thats not too shabby...

Slackware is what I think Id like. I basically would like to set it up for a home file server, and probably a FTP server as well.

asterisk@home comes with a distro, once you have the cd you just insert it, reboot and allow the cd to format and install to your hd.

If you're looking to try out linux you may want to just download a MEPIS cd and use the live boot feature. You can boot from the cd without installing it to your hd and play around with it. delta9 and I disagree but I've been running MEPIS on my workstation for some time now and it is wonderful. It's basically Debian with a much better installer, automatic hardware detection and other customizations.

Debian SARGE has good hardware detection. MEPIS' hardware detection is their own thing because the hardware detection in Debian WOODY was, admittedly, dismal.

All you really need is the net install ISO. Alternatively the first CD has everything you need. The great thing about netinstalling is you don't need another CD for years to come (unless you have hardware issues with a current one) and you get all your packages fresh from the net :thumbup:
