lack of motivation
    #3865093 -

i have complete lack of motivation

i wake up, go to work, come straight home, cook diner, watch tv and play on the internet for the rest of the night.

I can tell it's taking a toll on my health... i have high blood pressure and my clothes are starting to get tighter.

it's a sudden change... for a while i was doing really well, working out at least 3-4 times a week.

I feel like total shit and I have no energy. I know it's because I've because a total bum. and I know i feel much better if i just get up and do something... and for a while i had the excuse of it being cold out... but now it's starting to be really beautiful out and I'm still just sitting here.

any motivation tips? :frown:

Do something that is totally against your normal behavior. Go skydiving, or do soemthing to raise the adrenalin... Adrenalin always helps.

I don't know how much time you have or what not, but volunteer work for me is good. I used to tutor, and do some other volunteer work, and I find that when you're helping someone out, they want you to keep coming, and you tend not to want to dissapoint them. And for me, there's the fact that I feel good about helping others, especially when I really have to make the time and put in the effort to do so.

It all comes from within.

There will be those who desire to change, and change.

There will be those who desire to change, and don't.

You pick.

Start growing mushrooms. That should keep you busy for a few hours.

try replacing the time spent in front of screens (or some of it) with exercise, or some sort of activity. find a buddy to toss a frisbee around, or go for a bike ride. even a walk down the street sometimes helps when I feel like all I can do is watch a bad movie. Do you smoke pot? that'll often do it. take up a healthy cocaine habit perhaps. (kidding, kidding..)

My advice to you is: Just do something, for example if you go to school still study HARD for your next exam, go to review sessions, etc. It's rough at first but do it. When you pull of an A on a big exam it will give you a nice rush which in turn will help motivate you to work hard on something else.

Find a hobby, go for a run, work really hard on SOMETHING. When you start to see results you will be so stoked. That feeling will carry on, guaranteed. It makes it easier to do something else right.

Stop watching so much tv too, I hardly watch tv anymore, it might be entertaining, but it's so detrimental. I only really watch adult swim and a couple otter programs.

Best of luck to you .

Got a question about a substance?  Erowid might already have your answer! Have questions about the  mushroom experience? The  Tripper's FAQ may have your answer or someone else might have had your question before.

I'm in the same boat, I can't get myself to do anything, its a struggle everyday, everyday I have to basically kick my ass into doing anything....for example I didn't goto school again today.....I've barely gone in the last 3 weeks...

The one thing that me and my buddies always say is you just have to do it. Its the hardest part, to just do it, get up and out, just do it
