Terranium Question
    #387199 - 09/06/01 05:19 PM (22 years, 22 days ago)

Hello All,
I?m trying to grow my first batch and I just birthed 4 cakes two days ago. I put them in a
Sterilite semi-translucent container with a layer of wet perlite on the bottom for humidity. The container looks like it holds less than 5 gallons and I don?t think the lid is totally airtight. Will this be a problem with humidity? There is condensation build up on the sides of the container but not on the under side of the lid. Does the lid have to be *totally* 100% airtight? Will this lid leak too much humidity. Any help would be much appreciated.

-K

Also, the cakes haven?t started to pin yet. Do I still have to fan for air exchange, or should I wait until pinning to do this?

I don't see any problems with that set-up.

ya wanna know what i do? i'll tell ya anyway... i put my birthed cakes into a seedling grow chamber (basically like a sterilite container) with perlite and about 1/2 inch water at the bottom. underneath the perlite, i also have a fish tank bubbler. this has shown to be very consistent and i only have to fan like once a day. it also took me about a week and a half to see my first pins (today!!!!) heres a pic of my set-up...maybe you can find something like i have by going to a hydroponics store or website.
