You need to go to a health or organics food store. You should probably do more than 2 jars of popcorn to leave room for error. I'd suggest going out and getting a case (12) of wide mouth quart jars, then finding a health food store and getting around 6 or 7 lbs of organic popcorn.

You don't need to use spring water, tap water will do. With popcorn, the shell/kernel, whatever, is harder to permeate and absorb up water, so you need to simmer longer than other grains. I'd say around 45 minutes from my experience, I normally eye it. The popcorn should almost double in size.

I don't know what that second ingredient is, but I'm pretty sure it won't do. Unless maybe its a sugar, then that might help, but I'd play it safe and go get the good stuff. Doesn't cost too much,
$.59-$.89 USD around here.

I would just go cheap and buy some walmart popcorn. A bag costs less than a dollar and will do 2-4 jars depending on size. Fill the jars 2/3s full. An over night soaking is suggested before simmering.

K-Pareve means kosher, it's not an additional ingredient.

You _can_ use tap water, but tap water has lotsa other crap in it that the tek is not designed for. I know most supermarkets have water for .29 cents a gallon. I buy these 3gal water bottles and just load up.


Have your grains been 'drinking' the water while soaking? You would notice the water level go down. Adding more water while soaking is not uncommon. If your going to simmer you have to do that next before you can tell if its too much water or not. And if your adding a rinse also.

You dont soak it to increase the water content. You soak to germinate the endospores...
Instead of simmering i prefer pressure cooking for 60 min at 15psi.
I've tried it once and had 100% sucess.

Make sure you thoroughly strain your simmered popcorn before you load them into jars to PC them.

The lid doesn't matter, I usually leave it on though. Boil some fresh water, then turn the heat down to the lowest it can get while you still see bubbles coming from the bottom. Toss in your popcorn kernels and start timing.

That should be fine. I usually drain them after soaking, rinse a little bit, get some fresh water simmering, and then drop the spawn in. But what you're doing will work just fine. Rinsing after you're done simmering can get some of the excess crap off.
