under the grow/find section of the shroomery here you can find some info on mycelium cultivation (i.e. honey water tek etc.)...i think that's what you're looking for in terms of innoculating jars with mycelium. as far as the coco-coir -- you just get a bigass dry brick of the stuff, then wet it so it will barely drip when you squeeze it, and then cover your crumbled cakes with it in your casing

Are you talking about spawning (sp?) a bigger quantity of substrate with allready colonized cakes ? If so you can do it with compost or dung to improve yields, there are some teks on the grow/find section that points some procedures on how to do so. Basically what you do is sterilize the compost or dung and then mix it with the colonized cake(s), keep the resultant substrate in the dark, wait for it to be fully colonized and then case it. this is tek that i independantly developed, using Stamets and others as a guide. take a good cake. cut outwedges from top to bottom using a sharp knife. using a different knife, plunge down into the sterilized substrate to create a space for an implanted wedge. the implant should be about the size of three or four quarters stacked up. it is implanted next to the glass. three or four implants to a jar. one good jar of seed culture is good for about fifty jars. it helps to spray with 8 to 1 H2O2 and water at any time there is a possibility of contamination. i have abandoned this tek, in favor of less labor intensive ones, and the implants are a sticky mess. also the contam rate is high, something i find unacceptable.
