Let's take a ride to Amish country
    #3778850 -

I went for a ride today seeking some fine horse manure in the countryside.  Spotting the first Amish house with a decent size horse stable, I pulled in.

Me: "Hi, do you have some manure I could purchase?"

Friendly Amish guy: "No, but I have truckloads I want you to have for free!"

He shows me 2 separate piles, each as big as a small house.  The first pile was fresh, and I inquired if he had any aged manure at that point.

Guy "Oh sure, we got this there year old pile out behind the barn, follow me!"

And there it was, the mother of quality horse manure.  Thick, black and beautiful-enough manure for a small country.  They even turn this pile all throughout the year.  I had my work clothes on, and the guy even supplied his own bag, shovel and pitchfork as I came with no supplies (I was scouting).  He even loaded the poo for me.  When he started shoveling it in, the smell of earthy, heavenly, composted manure hit me.  This is grade A shit.

As usual, these humble people wouldn't accept any money.  It took two men to load this lifetime supply of poo into my car.  Although appearing medium in size, I estimate the bag to be 150+ LBS.

On my drive home I couldn't help but notice the amazing smell throughout my car.  Beautiful earthy goodness.  It was a good rainy day out here in the country.

I hope you enjoyed my short story

I've known a couple Amish people, and I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't care one bit about the use

The Amish relate law enforcement and our justice system with modern society to a degree, it's something they don't have interest in or patience for, as one comes with the other. Can you blame them?

As a people I have tons of respect for them. The free spirited, community based social structure that they live in is one that I envy greatly. Your business is your business to them, and every one of them abides to this. There are always exceptions to anything though, but I have yet to meet one in this group.

Humble, modest, and living off the land. These people just radiate good vibes, I love 'em.

I thought the amish only used horse and buggy?

They do, he was just making a reference.

This is pretty crazy stuff, has anyone here spawned to straight manure?  The smell and texture is taking me back to the Dung Brother's days

So do you guys prefer straight manure to manure/straw?  This texture has everything going for it as far as airyness/pockets, if I could work straw out of the equation then all the better.

"I like cigarettes, Miss Taggart. I like to think of fire held in a man's hand. Fire, a dangerous force, tamed at his fingertips. I often wonder about the hours when a man sits alone, watching the smoke of a cigarette, thinking. I wonder what great things have come alive from such hours. When a man thinks, there is a spot of fire alive in his mind---and it is proper that he should have the burning point of a cigarette as his one expression."
