A question about shit: just how bad is dung supposed to smell? I had a dung/verm casing which I just dumped out today because it smelled so obnoxious that it was stinking up my whole room. This was made with some steer manure I bought at a garden store. Do shit casings normally smell this awful, or is it more likely that I had some kind of bacterial bloom going which was causing the stench? Thanks, WW.

NO it should not smell that awfull, it should have an almost earthy smell.
I sounds like some bacteria if it smalls that bad, Next time pasteurise it before you use it and that should cure your problem

I thought not.  I guess I'll have to pasteurize this time... although the thought of cooking cow shit in a pot in the kitchen kinda turns me off :tongue:

cook it outside on the BBQ with a pot you son`t use for cooking food, that is the only way my wife would let me do it
