Basic flush info
    #377076 - 08/23/01 11:21 AM (23 years, 5 months ago)

Hi, I am in the process of drying some shrooms using the dessicant method. How do you guys turn these hard brittle shrooms into powder. I don't really want to use a blender because I don't have that many and don't want to lose any. Also, when do you know the flushes are done....I picked one huge mushroom from one cake today but everything else are just nubs and appear to have been there for a while. Can the nubs be harvested althoug they haven't grown really since the beginning.....there is a lot of green on them but it appears to be bruising. Any help appreciated.

The nubs can be picked. They sound like abhorts to me and you want to pick them before they turn black and start to rot. After some experience you will be able to pick the abhorts out sooner and should remove them immediately because they are taking up space and nutrients for othere good shrooms.

It's hard to turn shrooms into powder if you don't have a blender or a coffee/spice grinder. Try a mortar and pestle, though I doubt you have one of those.

You know when a flush is done when most of your mushrooms are about to break at the veil (or have opened at the cap if you're making prints). Then you pick all of them. End of flush.
