If you're new.. get a Numark (either the 2000+ or 3000+ models).. something preferable under 200. The cheaper the better. They're really simple to learn on... they have everything you need to get started... high/mid/low level knobs.. and kill switches. They really aren't the best quality as far as durability. You'll go through a cross fader every 6 months or so, but they're really cheap/easy to replace. IMO they're the best to learn on... but I wouldn't use it in a club setting based on its reliability.

I'd start with any 2 channel Vestax. They're reliable and simple to use. Not too many dials and stuff. Everyone I know that has started with a Vestax still has them. You can keep em around forever.

I have a 3 channel vestax...the PCV-175. I've had it for like 4 years, too, and it still mixes fine.

Well I was speaking with some other people on a Djforum.com and they recommended to purchase this mixer. They had told me it would be good enough for what I wanted to do. Its a good thing I ordered it before it was to late also...now I gota wait to save the money for my turntables...hahaha.

Hmmm... as a beginner... I dunno.. not only is that probably a bit too expensive $250+ used.... but it's got a lot of shit you won't need for a while. Stick with something cheap... If you have assloads of money that you don't mind tossing around, go ahead and buy it... but I'd recommend something cheap... like whosit mentioned with a two channel Vestax or a Numark DM2002 (i.e. the purple mixer). Personally, I like the numarks just because they have KILL switches... they'll kill the mid, low, or highs at the touch of a finger... instead of having to twist the knobs all the way around... This will let you do a lot more with the sound than a mixer with JUST knobs.

Well its to late now i've actually already ordered it. But its ok, I personaly love new challenges to master. Also I dont want to buy a cheap mixer in the begining and then later on end up having buying a better one. I'd rather just buy what I need now and not have to worry about it later on. The Vestax pcv-275 only set me back $295 with free shipping and no sales tax.

dude,. bad choice imo, my buddy has that mixer, it is straight fucked the fader is broke, the volume sliders cut out, and well its not good. i got a bheringer djx=700 for $150 which is a clone of the poiner djm 600 ($1000)
and mine has lasted longer than his, although the djx only has rca's and the vestax has rca's and 1/4 inch outputs.
but the vestax is a good mixer, for a while

crossfaders break all the time. they are an easy and cheap fix on the numarks. I have a bpm 2600, and I have gone through a few. as for the volume cutting out, did you try cleaning it out? dust on contacts kills.

Half the time when a Numark X-fader doesn't work, you just have to pull it out and fuck with the magnetic bristles at the end... and it'll work fine again.

www.satelliterecords.com For all your vinyl needs.
http://www.korg.com/gear/info.asp?a_prod_no=KAOSSMixer&category_id=2 This is my mixer.. I would recomend it to anyone.. All mixers mix so why would you get one that dont have a sampler and Kaoss pad too?
2 channel with high/mid/low controlls.
Its got all the bells and whistles and works just as good as any mixer but this one is MUCH more fun to play with..
It fucking rawks.
