Terence McKenna talks about it in his book 'True Hallucinations'...him and his bro were tokin down the doobs of that stuff while tripping out in the amazon. :wink:

I just inquired about this in General Questions. Mckenna describes slow-motion volleys of delicate hallucinations while smoking Caapi on mushrooms. I'm debating whether or not it's in my interest to purchase...

If you want to experiment with MAOIs, it'd possibly be more in your interest to use syrian rue, as rue is quite a few times more potent than caapi, and much cheaper.

Yeah but there's a chance Rue is slightly more toxic than Caapi.

almost a certainty that rueseeds is "riskier" that caapi vine...

it is quite worthwhile to do the manske/hasenfratz extraction on the rueseeds - cleans up the alkaloid profile to almost pure harmine & harmaline hydrochlorides, & even these can be seperated during the final optional free-base step...

& even doing the manske on the vine is interesting (somewhere is a little jar labeled "instant caapi" with just such an extract in it... i could show you...)

I'm a little trepidatious when it comes to MAOIs, being as sensitive as I am to psychedelics, but the smoked caapi route appeals to me. It sounds gentle; as Terence says, "delicate." I'd like to have some around to potentiate the mushroom experience as needed.

not a/b...
soak in white vinegar, filter & add table salt, chill --- the harmala HCl salts "crash" out of solution...

ya can sep the harmine & harmaline by careful addition of ammonia water to the harmala HCl salts dissolved in dH2O... the FBs ppt differentially...

(& smokin FB is easier than smokin HCl salts... imho...)(but either one is easier than smokin rue seeds or caapi vine, heh... or rue root, or vine leaf...)
