For Consideration of the Admin's
    #3720328 - 02/02/05 07:52 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

Dear Admin's

I have been thinking more and more that a dream forum would be perfect for the Shroomery.  Let's face it...mushrooms deal with tripping, and tripping deals with the unconscious mind.  We have access most often to this unconscious mind while we are sleeping, and thus dreaming.  I can think of no other forum right now that would be more appropriate to the needs of the Shroomery Community then a Dream Forum.

I understand there has been resistance to this in the past, and I'm not sure why.  We have a myriad of forums right now, and each and every one is valuable to the community in its own way.  I believe a Dream Forum would be a thankful compliment to the array of forums that already exist.  I believe it will be a valuable accessory to the mission of the Shroomery overall, which is to expand consciousness and help cultivate a greater understanding of our own minds.

Please consider adding a Dream Forum.  I know I would like to get more involved with my dreams, and it would be a truly remarkable experience to be able to sit down and converse with like-minded Shroomerites about our dreams in a forum designated for such a purpose.  Maybe it could even be a sub-forum of another, more popular forum.

All I ask is to please consider this request.  :sun:

truly,

*me*

To me, a dream forum just seems so specific. i mean, if you look at all the other forums on the main listing, most of them encompass a pretty wide cross-section of topics.

but what do i know.

No, I see your point. So I guess the option is either to broaden the definition of an existing forum, or broaden the definition further beyond just "dream forum."

Maybe Music, Art and Literature could be broadened to include discussion of dreams? Or Trip Tips...

I don't know if it would fit in S&P...

suggestions?

Personally, I think it is better suited as a subforum for either Physical & Mental Health (though that may be stretching it), or better yet The Pub  :sun:

Of course, there are already some very cool sites on the 'net dedicated strictly for lucid/dreaming, so do we really need an entirely new forum at our site for such a cause

Well, we've made due without a dream forum so far  so I guess we don't desperately need one.  It would just sorta fit, in my opinion.  I guess nothings stopping me from writing dreams in one of the existing forums.  It might be fun to make a dream journal in Physical and Mental health.

Maybe a subforum called:

Dreams - Visions - Visuals - Hallucinations - Optical Observations

A subforum dedicated to all things visual.

Great idea! So a subforum in Trip Tips maybe dedicated to interpreting and discussing visions of all sorts. That would be fantastic. Ayahuasca.com has something similar to that.

mods...?

The reason we need a dream forum at the shroomery is because all the lucid dreaming sites are filled with straight edge type assholes who think that people who use drugs are cheating. So, if you go to one of those forums you don't get to talk to cool open minded people about your experiences, rather you either have to hide the fact your dreams are drug related/induced, or be willing to tolerate all the assholes deriding you for using 'shortcuts' or deriding your experience as somehow less pure then theirs.

Ergo, there is no place for people like us to explore our dreams.

The obvious location for the forum isn't in SP but in PMH. Dreams are about psychology, not about spirituality, even spiritual dreams are fundementally big chunks of psychology.

So, change physical and mental health to physical and mental well-being (health has connotations that only sick people would be interested), and then add a subforum for dream logs.

Why exactly do you NEED a forum in order to write about your dreams?

Why can't you use one of the existing forums to do so? What about the Pub? I am sure many Pubers will be very interested in your dreams.

You don't need a pet forum to post about your cat.
You don't need a hair styling forum to post about the color of your hair.
You don't need a dream forum to post about your dreams.

As I imagine it, A forum would work like this. Rather then each member posting tidbits of an interesting dream, members would create logs, like grow logs, to trace their dreams daily, or several times a month. This long term record of dreams would be a lot more interesting then occasional dream posts for very unusual dreams. Put posting like that to the pub would just push pub topics further down or create clutter for pub members.

Exactly. And you said what I was trying to say. At a lucid dream site, we would not be able to be comfortably open with expressing the way that certain substances may or may not influence dreams.

The reason they want it is because they think in an a categorical, organized manner. They want to see related topics combined instead of in a chaotic mess.
It makes things more comprehensive.

I even added the following line to the description: "discussing your own psychology"

That's getting closer, no?
