How to chop off the last minute from an mp3?
    #3689088 - 01/27/05 03:12 PM (19 years, 2 months ago)

What is the easiest (and prefferably free-est) sound editor for lopping off the last minute and twenty seconds from a song? I tried Music Jukebox but it could only edit .WAV files. Any advice?

There isn't really a very good free alternative for editing of mp3's because mp3's are not an open format, it is copyrighted and requires money to edit. That said, you can use audacity and I believe there might be an mp3 plugin somewhere around... Failing that, you can get a program to convert from mp3 to wav (just google), edit in audacity or whatever, and then use lame to reencode to mp3 if you must.

Good good also
Sony's "Sound Forge" is a nice app, can be used for mixing in tunes n stuff. I'm sure a friend of mine had a demo

Sound Forge is used to edit a sound wave...  So he can chop the mp3 with it but for mixing you want to use Sony's "Acid"

Have you used Sound Forge? You can chop off the last minute of an mp3 easily. Just open it up select how much to trim, right click and boom.
But yeah both of those apps are good for the collection
